"You're welcome to display Google ads on the same site or page as other third party advertisements provided that the formatting or colors of the third party ads is different enough from that of the Google ads." Here is the link from google: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=32849 They just added it? What do you guys think? Good news?
Great news for publishers. Is it means that now adsense and YPN can be placed on same page with different colour schemes? What YPN says about this??
Google would not have an issue with adbrite, as long as the ads look different. I'm not sure what adbrite TOS says though, you might want to check that.
It really depends on whether you can find a way to get a decent click through rate on the ads, even if the color-scheme is different enough from the adsense-color scheme to be seen as 'different'. Or of course if you can get decent cmp ads.
To me its like showing respect to YPN and welcoming the competition. But YPN is still not allowing to put other contextual ads where there are YPN ads so imo it will take some weeks (or months) to get benefit of Adsense's relaxation. Jennifer Slegg blogged about it and gave some detail information about it
Yes, they do allow it, as long as the ads from the other programs (contextual or not) doesn't look too much like adsense. This does not make testing whether adsense or YPN works better for your site easier - even if YPN did allow to have them both on the same page at the same time.
I don't think it'll do much of anything, to be honest. Formatting all the ads to look the same are clearly against Google's rules. However, having several ad boxes that look different makes a site look tacky, and the ads stand out, decreasing clicks. The only folks this will work for are those who can keep both types of ads looking different, but still integrate them nicely to make them look like site content.
Thank G0d for Jen. What would we do without her. 1. Always reports first 2. Always brings the most important points to our attention 3. Connections - knows who to contact 4. Tenacious - digs into the heart of the matter 4. EVERYBODY is linking to her now - is that not proof enough? The latest from Jen: "How can you ensure they aren't mimicking your AdSense? If you are using the border-less technique, the simplest solution is to add a border or change the background color of the competitor's ad unit." http://www.jensense.com/ Works for me. YPN ads on a "same site" must necessarily be made less attractive. Uglified. If the Adsense ads are blended, then the YPN ads must be "standout". The net effect on the publisher is that he/she receives less income, due to reduced CTR. Stay tuned. Hopefully, clarification from Google will be forthcoming, as Jen suggests. <edit>Read Jensense again - she just added a SECOND update!</edit>
Just change the color scheme. No matter if you're using the same size in the ads unit. I'll strat using AdBrite right now .
Here are a few of my thoughts on the subject - http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/adsense-tos-changes.htm I have included some ad examples, and some speculation. Agree? Disagree? There are NO ACTUAL ads on the page. Ha-ha.
Yeah! really good news. Another thread on same topic: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=223807
