    Hi,
    I have the following situation with one of my clients: for the same set of major keywords website is doing well in Google and poor in Yahoo.

    What can cause that and what’s the remedy? Please share your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    CKelvin

    Did you pay for your site to be submitted to the Yahoo directory? That might help your rankings significantly.

    I have same problem for a client where Google has indexed them in the first 10 organic, but Yahoo nowhere to be seen. Yahoo has been using third party info providers like info.usa for their business information and until you are updated in these third party directories, Yahoo doesn't update their index.

    That’s an interesting point. Could you please elaborate?

    Besides, does Yahoo site map help?

    I think Yahoo does matter for targeted traffic. About 20% SE traffic still comes from it

    I disagree with that comment reason being that all of msn and yahoo counts for back links etc.......

    how old is your domain? I dont know why but I have a funny feeling that the age of the domain might play a big role in the SERPs for Yahoo, one of my keywords was ranked pretty decent in Google, and just now (15 months after launching my site) it appears in yahoo on the second page; how long have you been going at SEO for this website?

    i think there are two key point for ranking good on yahoo

    * backlinks
    * keyword density (i think this the most important criteria for yahoo)

    I dis agree with that" heres why"

    if your good at seo you can make a new domain get listed in the millions of results at Google.

    example copy this title>> Try The First Healthy Coffee 25% discounted: and paste it in Google search you will see that it is top in Google " here the catch the domain is only 6 months old" and so is the site" it came up #2 for Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 1,820,000 for Try The First Healty Coffee 25% discounted:. try this with your domain but heres the catch Google the title of your site and see where you come up" my friend its in the strategie" your domain has to be unique and key word rich for your product in order for Google to even reference it and description as well. unless your powered by the top search engines online or on ppc" just a seo tip"

    Yes, I would agree that Yahoo pays higher attention to keyword density. So, question is – what % it will like the most and what are rules of keyword placement/distribution on the page: <title>, other tags, content?

    Domain is about 1.5 years old. SEO is one year old.
