first decide what are you fit in... Without the skills and commitment that come from building a business, most bloggers never get to the point where they can quit their job and become real professional bloggers. I believe this is THE major reason why most professional bloggers fail. you can create good amount writing blogs, but dont even think about a good traffic with out having topic-skill. Decide what you are best fit in and then start $$$...... Best of luck
I agree, it has to be something you either really enjoy or know a lot about. It'd be easier to post everyday if it's something you enjoy though. And the subject can be ANYTHING, no matter how boring or unappealing YOU might think the subject is. People will seek out and read blogs in just about every niche you can think of. Just keep it fresh and interesting.

Adding my voice behind this view point. If you don't write about the things you enjoy, everyone will know and you'll find it hard to keep going.
Go to your local magazine store and take a look at those categories. Pick something that you have the interest and passion to talk about in the next 6 months (without seeing any money coming in..)
