Good Host For SQL - Please Recommend/Rate

I have been using Netfirms to host my site. Their service for PHP/SQL is horrible. It is slow and ofter errors. It has lots of downtime. My forums are nearly unusable because members always get error messages when browsing and posting. Wordpress takes a while to load, and always errors out.

Anyway, I'm going to move to a new host. I'm looking for a host with very good uptime, hopefully with some type of guarantee. I want a host that is good with databases, SQL, and PHP, because I'm going to be using Wordpress, PHP-based forums (namely phpBB), and other PHP scripts that use databases.

I have an account with hostican.com. They have been doing well on the forum I use with them.

I've also been looking at dreamhost.com and 1and1.com.

Hostican has a 99.99% uptime guarantee.

Does anyone have experience with these hosts? Can you compare and contrast them? Which do you recommend for my needs?

I'm so sick of getting database errors on my forums, blogs, and such. I can't stand it. It is very important that I get a host that is fast and reliable especially when it comes to databases.

    Any other recommendations?

(Also, never get Netfirms! I highly recommend that nobody here ever order hosting with Netfirms!)

Sorry to shatter everyones dream but above statement does not work in hosting business, how do i know ? Cause i run my own webhosting business and for really low cost for high bw and space do not expect too much cause that host is overload their servers. I host maybe 50 clients on my server and make sure no one abuses their resources. But the above hosts u mentioned put like around 200 to 500 clients on one machine. What do you expect ?
Hopefully that will help you find peace with yourself and find reliable hosting rather than cheap one.
    Cheers

I agree with you paidhosting. It is all this price war by noobs web hosts which create a mess for the industry. I did consider entering the web hosting business several years ago and undertaken my research and found that I would not be able to able by any account to offer low prices and still offer high level of quality.

If you opt for low prices with unbelievable specifications then just be prepared to be constantly disappointed with the level of service and you may have to move now and again. That's just the reality of the matter.

However if you are hosting fun sites and downtimes once in a while does not affect you then go ahead and host them at those cheap places.

I know hardware cost have fallen a lot over the last few years but utility bills and salaries have risen. Dreamhost like the same say is merely a dream, the reality is downtimes and slow performance. 1and1 doesn't actually provides you with any real level of support and they seems too big to care.

There are good hosts out there and if you do not have unrealistic expectations then you find what you need. Just be prepared to pay 2 to 3 times what you are paying now for less than what you are getting and you be happy with the uptime and speed.

I'm asking which hosts have the most reliable hosting for PHP/SQL. I am concerned about uptime and speed. I don't want a cheap host.

Any shared hosting plan is cheap enough, as I've never seen one I can't afford.

Perhaps it would be best to put it as a single statement question: Which shared-hosting hosts have the best PHP/SQL uptime and speed?

Yup good hosts r out there, but for some odd reason most tend to go with all those that do crazy advertising , offer so much for so little, i guess its human nature to do that. But there are hosts around that go un-noticed, example myself, cause i never do advertising as those big boys cause, i think money spent wisely is the best route a webhost can take. Even though my hosting is not noticeable much i can any time say this " Find 1 -ve legitimate review about my hosting and you get free hosting" . Can other so called " big shots" with confidence repeat my words?

So remember folks choose whats right for you, if you can live with downtimes go cheap, if you want ur sites up search carefully about the host you choose.

well i'm using FASTHOSTS in the uk...and i find it pretty expensive cuz here we have VAT charged when we do buy stuff from large businesses...its almost twice as expensive as america! .

but i'm looking to move to a US provider...if they use paypal that'd be great...thats why i'd like you guys to suggest a good large bandwidth provider i can run JOOMLA and phpBB on.

UK bw is more expensive than US bw , thats why providers in US can provide more BW at lower cost, but remember only so much disk space can be provided though.

Well, when i first start making website, i could not find any good webhosting with cheap price. also i agree it is very difficult to find a good well known hosting company with cheap price.

Then i sign up hosting with bravehost. i was with them 5 months. Their customer service is very slow. i had lots of problem with them. also it was expensive. as long as i remember it was $7.98, 250 MB & 20 Gb bandwidth.

So, i needed a good cheap hosting very badly.i have search lots of hosting forum, then back to 2005 i have found www.a1whs.com
Why i like this hosting? This is so cheap, Great uptime 99.99%, and moreover their Customer service is awesome. anytime i need help, i just messege them on msn. and they help me. since then im with this hosting & still i'm.

So i will Recommend a1whs.com Hosting, if anyone looking for Reliable Hosting.

I think I'm going to go with hostican. So far I haven't had any problems with the site I have hosted with them. Does anyone have experience with hostican?
