I haven't launched either of my sites yet. I don't know I think I have been on here a month or so, maybe longer, reading and studying. I have been waiting on a 3rd party open source software for my sites which will be done soon. My question/statement is this. I read a lot of guerilla tactics. 1) adding to link directory which seem to serve no real purpose but to increase backlinks and PR. I mean does the average surfer see someone's directory and use it. 2) going to forums that are similar to your topic and adding links in your signature. 3) SEO - now don't get mad. I think everyone should keep this in mind when writing content but writing around keywords seems odd to me Now I may be flat out wrong. I usually am. If someone could please explain it with a different point of view I would appreciate it. I guess the other tactic is Adwords etc. How do you draw quality non spam targeted traffic? What do people use besides Adwords?
No, do you think we get normal linkbacks so that people click on them and come to our site ?? NO!! Same as other links .. directory links show up in search engines when the anchor text is searched for and thereby help us get quality targetted "Search Engine Traffic". Also dirs are strolled by crawlers and help us get indexing! Yes this sure does help, but it depends on the quality of your posts! If you post good and look smart, people might want to checkout your website ... and you can get a few quality visitors ... also if the forums are well SEOed .. the links in ur siggy, work like backlinks to your site! Search Engine's are hungry for quality content, and writing content around keywords doesn't mean you go around stuffin the keyword anywhere, it means that you are writing things about that keyword and mentioning it quite a few times in your words, these keywords will be related by the crawlers to the anchor text that was provided in your links and your page importance is established! Hope I answered them all! Abhishek
Exchange links with websites, it's easy to find link exchangers on the beggining because most of websites get less than 100 visitors everyday, the problem is when your website gets out of 1000 visitors/day area And of course SEOing is a really good way I usually SEO 70%, exchange 30%. Btw, find a good and FAMOUS banner exchange service and use it on the tail of your page, don't get 1:1 rates because most of 'em got no members and it would take ages till your banner quota is used... Try getting one popular! And don't use autosurf because you get non targeted visitors, just waste your bandwidth, and bandwidth is money!
Regarding your answer on getting quality Non Spam traffic... Remember the Good old saying ... "80% of your website visitors will come through Search Engines" From your words it appears that you haven't yet realised the complete potential of SEs! Just my piece of advice ...Don't go for Google alone, concentrate on Yahoo and MSN as well and you should see an amazing rise in your traffic! Abhishek
Here's the thing bj: you're absolutely right - in one way. In a perfect world, you would be right in your assessment. Unfortunately we don't live in that world. It's a whole lot of bs when it comes to getting quality traffic. You need to build those links, make sure to comb through your content after writing it to see you are targetting the words you want ranked correctly, and keep up on the latest seo techniques to get there - especially if you are starting with little funding and few connections. The whole of it comes down to search engine traffic. How on earth are people going to find your website? Most of the time, it's from the search engines. Yes, you will find that there are some great websites that will give you traffic over the time of having your website, and there is this whole concept of social networking that is really really getting big. As it stands right now though, search engines are the most convenient way of getting your quality traffic. Rank on the terms related to your website and you're golden - if they are searched enough. Don't fight the system, but don't buy into the fast road either, get quality links, write quality content, and continue to research every marketing potential that you can out there. There are other ways that I won't go into here, but keep an open mind when you look around. A funny gimmick, a great tool, a unique product.. all of these can create a huge buzz around your name.
Yes, people just like google because a lot of people use, but its hard to get ranked 1 on a keyword, but they don't see that msn and yahoo have alots of users too, and its a lot easier to get a good rank
Bro Who said it's hard ?? You have to find a niche ... and thats one of the hardest part in an SEO ... the Keyword research! Abhishek
So what exactly is a quality link? Can you give me a real live example of a good and bad entity to exchange with?
Well, i said its hard, it was to mean that its HARDER than google, because people are so focused on google and forget about msn and yahoo that could provide 'em a lot of traffic!
A quality link is a link that's on a site with relative content! The page has relatively lesser links and is not another of those link farms! Most importantly the page is indexed! The page doesn't use the no follow command for your link! It is not something that's filled with crap javascripts! And things along the lines ... Abhishek
