Claria/Gator has hired a lawyer as its new main man to lead them through the Spyware minefield that is developing in Washington and California, lawmakers are coming after spyware and adware vendors bigtime.

The new laws will affect all web surfers, in addition to that webmaster affiliate programs will have to change because of the new laws.

The following article will give insight to anyone interested in this very important industry issue.

Thanks for the link Anthony. I am very anti-parasite and anti-adware but have been carefully watching this battle unfold. One thing that could backfire is if so much focus is put on privacy that ALL cookies are blocked or flagged. This could really hurt affiliate and adserving revenue.

Well the above link give more data to all showing that ADWARE & SPYWARE will tip the scales of marketing in favor of those who do away with the data mining model that is now so much in favor (it will be outlawed soon anyway) by most of the ADWARE and SPYWARE vendors.

M$ will build into the next OS systems that will lock out many programs that report online activity to third parties including many of our favorite search engines.

This thing is just starting, you will find that the leaders in the industry will sell into this desire of consumers for online privacy.

As far as affiliate programs, they are already flawed as most computer users erase the cookies everyday anyway.

New models such as CPM will have to be developed soon or we all will go broke.
