I think Adsense within actual blog posts really cheapens a blog. It's fine if you are building lots of small niche blogs in order to make a few pennies but not so good if you are trying to build one big authority blog in your niche.
I think the adsense position in "http://phonuts.org/" is really nice. But I think you need some content rather than pics. But http://www.anti-aging-information.com/ adsense position quite OK. But the theme is not that much pleasing to the eyes.
I think the placement on that anti-aging site is quite nice, only that it's a bit clustered and not too nice to see.
You guys are all just tricking people into going to your blogs. Funny, but that makes this thread worthless.

Both of them is good enough. However, it depend on your website, this is just for referance. The best placement shall be found out by monitoring and studying

I agree with jrw. you might get more clicks in the short run, but less people will take the blog seriously. thats just my opinion.
