Np...and i did put there in the left of the submit page "Reciprocal links are not necessary but we would greatly appreciate it" ..and it's in red so people can see it I will put my signature, i just have to be over a week older to do that I made a cathegory business->telecommunications, so you can list your site..And i will add some more as the time lets me Cheers and thanks for the info
My first directory is also PR4 and about 5 months old, using phpld. Like has been said before, make sure you are on all the big directory lists. That will be your main source of traffic until you start getting search engine traffic. Also examine your logs carefully and see where traffic is coming from, then try to improve your standings at the referring site. Also, be sure to approve submissions quickly, that will keep people coming back. No one likes to wait 2 weeks for their site to be approved. Not sure if this is a good amount or not, but mine is doing 100+ submissions a day and averaging about 300 uniques a day.
Pretty nice stats....and how much time does it take you to review 100 links, cause i find it more and more time consuming...
It probably takes me about 25 minutes for 100. I agree it is very time consuming running a directory. Especially when you have 4
wow that's fast....it takes me a lot more, but i think it's because of the slow connection to internet...good luck with your 4 dirs, btw
Hey spyrit, Where have you placed your directory to get traffic? I also have a directory that I want to get more traffic to and 40 links a day sounds great to me but where are they coming from?
most traffic comes from forums like this one, and some from other directorys and list, and a little from search engines....submit your site to all the directorys that you find in this forum for starters, and register to several forums and present your site
Seing that many people here have directorys, i made a lot more subcathegorys for my Directory cathegory in computer->intenet ...so, what do you say, are they ok, or are they too deep??
You got a nice number of categories starting out in Internet. I would suggest in Internet you add a web design category and a web hosting category because you are going to get alot of submissions dealing with those topics. Under Computers I see that already your software catgeory is filling up nicely. Might want to make some sub-cats, otherwise you will soon end up with hundreds of listings under the one software category. Some other very active categories that might need to be broken into more sub-cats are Directories, Real Estate, and Travel.
Yup, every major cathegory has an Other Languge "SubCathegory". submit them there but please put them under the correct major cathegory
