    Hello Karl,

The cmsmatrix website might help you. (sorry can't enter the URL)

It was working fine for me a couple of weeks ago, but no content this afternoon. So you may need to give it a day or two.

We use DotNetNuke. It appears to compare favourably at the above site.

I was looking for a Linux based alternative. Some options to consider:
    Mambo/Joomla, Wordpress Webgui.

I've been playing around with Website Baker (http://www.websitebaker.com ) which is pretty good, easy to install and there's some add-on modules that will do what you want. It's search engine friendly.

Joomla all the way, by far the best. Then just throw on 404sef component for SEF URLs

karl, can you be more specific and try to provide more details about your needs.
because of there are many similar to *NUKE CMSs now days.

if you are planning to run an articles engine and you like "windows friendly GUI", I would like to recommend you to use JOOMLA.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? The CMS has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the presentation layer. You could create a template that looks precisely like whichever other CMS you think "looks" pretty

I have not seen A site built with Joomla, where you couldn't tell it was Joomla.

That's no fault of the CMS, but just laziness on the part of the designer.
    How about Porche's site?
    http://www.porsche.com.br/

Joomla is robust, reliable, scalable, extensible, and fairly easy to learn/use

My intention was not to argue, I don't want to fill this thread with nonsense.

My problem is your comments on Joomla are kind of misleading

    Easy to use: Yes
    Reliable: Yes

However, you have to be a little more than intermediate when it comes to coding to make Joomla look like you want it to.

How are we to know the the Porsche site is even part Joomla?

There is a lot of Frontpage script in the source.

At any rate, for beginners Joomla is great, if you want a "website in a box", if want anything else you would have to step you "code game" up.

Combining multiple positional fields in the template (user5-9 are five normally free additional positions), with the css available within the html/css and the use of Module Class Suffix make joomla extremely flexible to skin in my opinion

All of that is great, but for the novice, forget it.

Why don't you supply us with a tutorial?

a tutorial on adding/making use of the module positions & suffix classes?
i can do that. but if you are unwilling to learn html/css you will never get your template looking exactly as you like it.

I know a fair amount of .HTML and .CSS, I would say that I am slightly above the "intermediate" level.

    That tutorial would greatly appreciated.
