Good BackLink to Ranking Improvement: How Long?

    Hi,

Assume that I get a good backlink (relevant, strong site, indexed, good PR, etc etc). Further assume that this backlink "should" cause the rankings to improve for the specific anchor keyphrase. My question is, How soon should I expect to see that change?

    Thanks
    Ajeet

As soon as possible. But there's no definite time range.

I've seen as quickly as 3 weeks. it really depends on how often the engines index that site

My original purpose of asking this question was related to the fact that I had just sold links on my DOGS site. In the past, it has been my experience that people who buy that link get a serious boost in their SERPs. Luckily, the results were seen in 2 days. And the buyer is pleased. So, I guess I am answering my own question here :)

The truth is it depends on the age of your site. If your site is new and still sandboxed, unless you recieve a lot of links don't even bother thinking about it. If your site is older or established, then it can be from 3-7 days after google finds the link. I know this from my experience of my new vs old/established sites.
