My site was getting traffic and then it lost almost all traffic. And again traffic for a week or so and then no traffic. What is wrong?? Does anything similar happened to you?

It seems your ranking is fluctuating. Is your site new ? Ranking fluctuating is very common for new websites.

No it is a year and half old. Besides I used to write articles based on url keywords which gives me some ranking & traffic. Also articles from seo link vine used to be posted. but no longer now. Are any of these actions against Google's TOS?

Have you checked your referrer stats? Is all your traffic coming from Google? Your fluctuations may be coming from different sources.

If this really is a Google thing, do a Google search for your keywords regularly and see where you appear in the results, so you can see if it is your ranking that is changing or just that Google itself is getting fluctuations in the queries on your keywords (which you won't be able to do much about).

Well, if your site is a year old now, it may have something to do with your SEO techniques. Usually, if it's that old and if you post regular unique content, the traffic must be steady. Well, at least in my experience, that what actually happens in our site.

Do you have a GWT or Google Webmaster Account to check your rankings for Google? Or are you using some other service? GWT is pretty reliable if you are looking to gauge your rankings for your site.

Keep on adding content and backlinks. Avoid backlinks from forum profiles and crappy backlinks that lot of people use to massively get.

I may have blasted some back links. Other than that I think I played safe. I also noted that some of the competitive sites lost rank in Google. However theirs and mine rank in Yahoo now. SEO is really bad. If I had the money I would have gone for the paid ads. I think that is much more easier even if it costs money.

It is still that way. Imagine having 140 unique visitors and some sales one day and the other day two or three unique visitors. It would have been good if Google will tell us the reason. Goo keeps us guessing. Bad.

Check out your landing pages. Sometimes for new websites with lots of pages having similar content relevancy, causes these types of problem. But if you are getting the same landing page each and every time as your ranking bounces then you need to pay a certain attention over the content and link structure

Yes it happens to me too. i guess from the latest big update, Google changes something everyday. I had one site that lost all rankings ( from 20 something to nowhere). A month later came back to the original rankings (~) and a week later disappeared again. After another 2 weeks came back to normal again. My theory is that Google does on purpose these kind of things in order for nobody to say for sure if one method or another can get you on the top page. He's just trying to keep us in the mist.
