Yesterday Google launched updated versions of the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner that will also offer a new Google URL shortening service called the Google URL Shortener (goo.gl). Source: goo.gl
It helps if you have a long url like ww.site.com/jackzzofthedayforaskingthisdumbquestionandimactuallyansweringbecauseihavenothingbettertodowithmywholeentirelife.html to this www.tinyurl.com/jAckds
People dont remember long urls plus at times they look ugly so such services help a lot plus some services even give u the facility to track how many times a link is visited
I hope they release that to the public to use through some other tools / services. Would be pretty neat to use instead of some of the other vendors out there.
So far, goo.gl is only available for Google apps, no word on when or if it will be rolled out for wider use.
I just visited the said goo.gl and it isn't live yet. And thanks for those who answered my last question. Anyway, may I know if these url shortening services delay traffic? What I mean is, thru stat counters you see where the click came from, right?
its really interesting. Google URL Shortener is currently available for Google products and not for broader consumer use.
