Gone down 11 pages in Google, how come?

Ok, the TV Guide on our website used to rank on the first page (around position 5 or 6 i thnk) of Google for "tv guide" until recently when we dropped to the 12th page.

Now, the guide itself was an iframe from onthebox but has now changed to another iframe from another company. My understanding of iframes is that SE spiders cannot see the content, is this correct? So changing one iframe for another shouldn't affetc what the spiders can see?

Nothing else on the page has changed dramtically. We have loaded the page with advertising, could this have prompted Google to drop our rankings?
This was done quite a while ago though.

The real drop in traffic occured on the 7th Januray. Did Google perform some mass update on this day or was it just us?

Have you been updating your keywords, keyword density, and content? Or monitoring keywords and densities that competitors are using and making adjustments accordingly? That may have a lot to do with it if you haven't been.

    Hi,

I think this is related to the present Google dance. I have the same problem with one of my domain: it disappeared from G yesterday although I haven't changed anything.
Keep patient and wait for a while.

    Regards

I have just used this tool and have found that the rank is different for many of the datacenters.

We still hold our page 1 position in some, are on page 3 in others, and are on page 12 for a sad few.

It can be hard to diagnose, though recent changes are usually the main culprit, however you can never really be certain. SEO is no science!

Google made an big update on PR and backlinks since Jan 15. One of my site also keeps dropping. Have no idea, and I just keep working on getting backlinks.

Yeah, it's crazy right now. One day you look you're no 2. Next day: not in the top 100.
Next day: No.5 - looks like they're going through different databases, until the wheel

stops suddenly. Then whatever is on top will stay there for the next 3 months.

I start to dislike this "wheel of fortune marketing" and consider to drop them permanently
from my list of recommended long term business investments.
