Me and my brother, we are going to open up a computer Repair store here. We have $ 7k , We found a store that is very big and in a great location for only $ 300 a month . what is so great about it, it is downtown so we get people that walk and ride their bicycles in front of our store . we are thinking About putting a few computers in the store for people to use to play games on and and surf the Internet .

If anybody has ideas for our store please post them.

You can also refurb used machines and resell them. You'll get free parts from upgrades you do for your customers and people are always throwing away perfectly good pc's that just need a hard drive replaced or something simple.

Are gaming cafes popular in your country? I think that would be the best choice for the target audience you might get.

If you can do drop shipping, sell old/new hardwares, assembled PCs, etc on ebay for cheap prices but still keeping a good margin.

Well the thing is they are popular in bigger cities. don't get me wrong this is a pretty decent size town we live in It is why we will only probably build 2 to 3 computers first for the gaming / Internet . We are still trying to get everything worked out , We are going to the building tomorrow to do cleaning the people that had the store before us did not clean it out there's no major cleaning we need to do but it did help us there's no deposit because we are doing the cleaning. We live in the US We was hoping to have a little more money but Our uncle back out because of his bills. me and my brother has worked at computer repair stores for very long time . We are hoping maybe the gaming idea will catch on because the only place here for younger people to hang out is the arcade and the Wal-Mart parking lot or the mall parking lot lol . One more thing my girlfriend dad has a friend that owns a building he's not doing anything with it He been trying to get a hold to him and see if we could use it for free or very cheap they are very good friends . the building is in a good location but not as big . A good thing my girlfriend family is very big they will come to us For their computer repairs

I think you shouldn't just limit yourself to computer repairs, have internet and game access, have computer lessons, offer website making services, etc. and advertise in local newspapers :D

When I was in the service, a lieutenant in our shop opened a computer store. He collected non-functioning computer from people, hired a couple of techs to consolidate the parts into a few functioning computers and sold them at a discount. He also sold some computers on consignment. With new computers being so cheap now a days, I don't know if you can make any money selling computers now.

Oh, one more thing. The computer shop was opened for only about two weeks before someone broke into it and stole all the expensive items. They knew exactly what to swipe, so they must have walked in and case the store during the day. Be sure to get an alarm system!

What city will the shop be located in?

Rental laptops and workstations are good business. I was looking to rent a dual core xeon workstation last Nov and the asking prices was $265 a week.

Nice idea, I hope you will do well. Gaming is a good idea too. You could provide online RPG for them and used prepaid payment method. That will encourage return customers.

yes I might start a blog. To keep everybody informed. We cleaned up the store the other day . Looks nice. Funny thing is there used to be a computer store in the same location over 10 years ago. the person we are renting the store Used to own it. A good thing is we already have our first customer a pharmacy in Blackshear. The store will be located in waycross. another thing to, all the computer repair stores here has a bad reputation. We'll also be doing Hard drive Recovery. Games , Internet , computer repair , Out calls to Local business if their network goes down. Buying use computers , selling used and new computers , Also we was thinking about setting up are own hosting company to. We have 7k we want to at least pay for rent for 6months. 6 x 300 = 1800 . to get everything we needed in the store and get all the paperwork is going to cost under 2k So total is $3800 . That leaves us with $3200 . Also me and my brother we will be putting some money into it every month to keep the store going until everything picks up. If we have to

was working in a repair shop for a few months. after a while you will find out that viruses, internet explorer, spyware and lightning strikes are your best friends :)
think internet cafes only run well in touristy areas because you get some travellers who want to check emails, upload pics etc. since everyone has a own computer at home.
but you should run you own gateway to filter traffic and maybe restrict sites/ ports or even use linux (try knoppix; runs from cd so nothing can break the os and you dont have to care about viruses or installation) - if you use plain out-of-the-box win installation you spent 50% of the time keeping this things running and remove all the toolbars, spyware and crap your customers installed from some dodgy sites.
