Hello DPers mate, I finally will be leaving my current job in Singapore and heading to ANU (Australian National University) to pursue my master course. I'm so excited and would like to hear any comments from anyone who have been in Australia and if possible to be able to meet someone from ANU too Any comments such as what to bring/not to bring or how to find job/cheap food, would be appreciate Cheers, toby

Im from Australia and its definately not hard to get a job. Im from QLD but from NSW originally. Ive only been to Canberra twice. Hope you enjoy it over here!
also living in nsw though have visited canberra on my way to the snow. nice town if a little bit quiet. you can get fireworks there though, illegal everywhere else in aus.

I have never been to canberra, although I live in queensland. Bring lots of clothes for both summer and winter, to the best of my knowledge it gets hotter in summer and colder in winter more than most other places. Food wise, its better to buy things from supermarkets and make it yourself. If you buy maccas or kfc it will set you back a good $6-$10. I would much rather spend that money on a nice steak which I can cook on the barbie Jobs, you can either go to an employment agency (such as Sarino Russo, Mission Australia) and they will help you out. Check out www.seek.com.au, www.jobsearch.gov.au and www.mycareer.com.au for jobs that are advertised online.
