Going Through an Information Overload

When every website out there says that this is all you need, and you stumble upon another, what do you do?!
How many people should I listen to?
My marketing is failing because of Information Overload, especially on the step I'm stuck on (I have EVERY OTHER ONE DOWN!) - Niches.
One website says - Do something you love, and the money will come to you.
Another says - Go with a profitable market and go into a sub-niche.

And, one website says - Make a blog!
While another says - Make an email newsletter!
And the other says - MAKE BOTH!

    What should I do?!
    Information Overload is killing me!

This is a great topic TechyRadhika and one that rings true for many of us, I'm sure. My best advice is to follow the suggestions that correspond with your own goals. You'll also have your own limitations to consider as well.

So know your limits, get comfortable with them, and work toward achieving your own objectives. That's my recipie for maintining at the very least, my sanity. :)

You have stumbled on the very thing which causes most people to give up on e-marketing.

There are a few keys to overcoming information overload...

First... we must take action. Reading every "guru's" ideas about what we need to do is not only confusing , it actually keeps us from taking action. Stop reading and start doing. We discover quickly enough what works and what doesn't. When you find something that works, do more of it. When you find something that doesn't, find another way to do it, or just stop doing that all together. You will learn more by taking action and measuring the success of your results than you will by reading, or buying another guru's product.

Second, have a plan for what you want to do, every day. Stick to the plan... don't allow yourself to get distracted from it. When you are taking a particular action, focus on it exclusively. Information overload is a form of distraction... come up with methods and mechanisms which keep you from getting distracted, and keeps you focused on one thing at a time.

Third, feel free to set big goals, but plan the steps you need to take along the way to reach your goals. Focus on one step at a time. Don't concern yourself with the ultimate goal... focus only on the step you need to take right now. When you have a plan which details all the steps you need to take, the big goal will take care of itself... all the while, you stay in control by tackling one step at a time.

Finally... don't measure your success by looking at whether or not you have yet achieved your goal. Focus instead on how much progress you have made by looking back to where you were when you started. As long as you are making progress, you will eventually get there.

I agree with what you guys wrote above. Keep to one thing and do it. Self-discipline comes in handy!
For a while I suffered from information overload too and now I have rigorosly excluded certain things. I have a also made a list of things I might want to do later ...
My goal is not to know it all and to have it fast, but as fast as possible ... and that only happens if I focus on one think at the time and do it right!

Choosing keywords which are "buyer focused" is the most important
along with analyzing the competition. There are two basic types of
    individuals on the internet....

    1. Information seekers/Entertainment seekers
    2. Buyers

It doesn't really matter if you like the niche or not...

That is unless you are just creating a site for the love
of it and are not concerned about generating any revenue
    from your efforts.

If you generate revenue most people will learn to like the
    niche.

As far as information overload....Pick one strategy and learn it well. You
will develop variations as you go along. Most of all TAKE ACTION!

Make both! Seriously..... With internet marketing there is no one simple ready-to-use formula that will guarantee success. The reason why there seems to be an information overload is because there is an information overload. This is what makes internet marketing so exciting, there is an endless number of ways you can make money online. This is a good thing because it allows anyone and everyone to dive into the world of IM and get a slice of the market share one way or another.

Picking a niche to get into that interests you is a great way to help maintain focus in the long run. If you pick a boring niche and niche in which you don't know anything about you will find yourself running out of promotional ideas. There are lots of ways to generate traffic to your site and an e-mail news letter and blogs are 2 very common and very effective ways of marketing online.

I would suggest starting with one promotional technique to start your marketing campaign. Once you feel you have the time and knowledge to move onto the next promotional idea then move on! During this time optimize your marketing campaign by constantly tweaking and monitoring your success.

Keep reading around these forums and you will find lots of tips on how to successfully promote online.

I feel this too, I read thru so many guides that I'm almost ready to throw in the towel. Every guru has their own spin on things and almost cancels out the last one. I guess that is why so many drop out of IM before they even try. I'm even skeptical there is real money in this, I would never believe in 1 million years people can make a few 100 a day from IM (Hope I ultimately prove myself wrong).

I never feel what I do will be good enough and I don't want to fail.

I also always feel I came into the game late and things are closing.

I kinda felt that way in 1998 too, and dismissed some opportunities back when.

You should choose one person, attach yourself to their hip, follow their plan, stick to it until you master it.

Unsubscribe from everyone else. Even if you were on my list, I would tell you the same thing, kick me out, choose one person, and get serious about it.

Choosing a niche is a matter of choice. I prefer to do it this way. I choose a market I like. I break it down into smaller markets, and choose the ones I enjoy the most. Then I start doing keyword research to find niches with-in this sub-market I would like to produce content for. It makes it easier to write, produce videos, and stay motivated when it is a market I enjoy.

Then you must test to see if the market is viable to make a profit. If not, discard, try again.

What should you do? Make a blog, make a squeeze page to capture email addresses, start sending your subscribers your newsletter or messages, keep building the list. Create content on other internet locations to drive traffic to your blog and squeeze page.

Now, Who should you follow? Start with Ed Dale's "The Challenge"

Quite frankly his advice is gold, the training is free, and he covers everything from finding a niche to market leadership.

If you do not want to follow him.... my list is re-opening next week. :)

I read through about thirty ebooks this afternoon that had been sitting on my desktop and what I found is that most of them promoted the same system.

    1. Find a niche - do your keyword research; make sure that the keywords have some competition but not too much

    2. Find or make a product that fits that niche - not sure how? Easy go to Yahoo Answers and see what questions people want answered in their niche then find or make a product to answer those needs

    3. Get a keyword rich domain name and your own hosting (can do it for free through Blogger or Weebly but own site and domain gives you more control)

    4. Create a squeeze page giving away a free report on your niche (i.e. giving away one secret tip while promoting another 5 tips) - this way you are building a list - use GetResponse for your autoresponder because they are free up to 100 subscribers

    5. Promote your product to your list, and through sending traffic to your sales page

    6. Free traffic ideas - article marketing, video marketing, do-follow blog commenting, forum postings, social marketing, social bookmarketing, traffic exchanges and safelists

    7. Paid traffic sources - PPC, facebook adverts, Clickbank (where you can sell your own product through affiliates)

    8. Rinse and repeat

Of course there are a lot of little details I have left out - I can hardly write you an ebook as a DP post but hopefully this will give you some ideas, and if you need any further clarification please PM me.

    Best wishes

There are many valid ways of earning online and it's not only for a select few.

It's equivalent to a great Chef..First you have to have the correct ingredients that
he uses. Although you can't stop there because that is not quite enough.

Next you also need to know the formula (how much of this and that).

And...last of all it takes a bit of practice to have it come out right..

Picking one method and TAKING consistent ACTION is sound advice.
