Going rate for writers / bloggers?

I've had two travel writers contact me this week - I've probably got room for one writer, but I have no idea how much to offer them per blog entry.

The maximum number of words is 400 and all of the content has to be unique, i.e. no copied news stories or articles.

Any ideas what the going rate is per blog entry?

Well I obviously want quality - and I know that these writers write quality work - so, what's the going rate?

For that length, $6-$8 would be what most DP writers get for similar jobs ($4 or less if English is not their native language).

You could also consider that most decent writers are looking for between ten and twenty five cents per word for freelance work.

I know it sounds a bit steep, but if you are looking for decent work done by real professionals, thats the sort of rate you are looking at.

Then again, you can look around at sites like this one and SP and so on and come up with copywriters on here. The rates are a hell of a lot cheaper, but then again, what you get is something of an unknown quantity.

I've been known to write short news stories for a site for $2USD a go, but then again, I've also charged the cost of a domain name for a simple press release. I could charge more, but I tend to live for the moment....kinda anyway.

    cheers,
