Going for PR7

    Hello all,

We recently started a new website (2 weeks ago) and the recent pagerank update caused the site to get a pr of 4. We now want to move towards 6 and ultimately 7.

We have done some press releases and some article submissions, we have also submitted the link to around 500 directories (done it ourselves) + all social media (got +200 diggs). What would be the next natural step? Do we continue to submit links? Or is a different strategy recommended?

Competition wise, there are 2 websites we compete with ( pr4 and 5 , pr 4 site has a higher alexa (1800) rank). We do have the benefit that our domain name contains the targeted keyword and we do own all posible combinations + all tld's.

The question remains... what do we do?

PR4 and PR5 can be achieved from general link building. As for PR6 and PR7 you are going to have to target higher pages. Once you get around PR6 PR0-PR4 links arnt worth anything in terms of getting you up to the next.

lol i wouldnt get too carried away if I were you. if you got PR4 in 2 weeks, that's not "real" (as in justified by enough inbound linkstrength)

and at an estimated base 6 ) ie PR5 is 6 times more than PR4, to get PR6 you need to build 36 times more linkstrength than a real PR4 and I would bet good money yours is not a real PR4.

these erroneous readings happen quite a bit with new sites, corrections invariably follow. hopefully Im wrong in your particular case but I doubt it.

why would it not be real? If he has a few high PR backlinks before the google screenshot (its normally a couple of weeks before the update) - it is easily possible. By not real, if you mean, it will not stay unless more link building is done, that might be right.

1 thing up front: PR should not be a goal, but I know it gives a lot of energy to your ego if you can reach it. Make sure what your real goal is: Getting love from Google or getting traffic to your site with good conversions.

Furthermore, there's only 1 way to pass beyond PR6 up to PR7+ and that's by using good content/tools/giveaways/contests/video, etc. In one word: Viral. People will link to it. I know it's not what you want to hear but here "linkbait" is the only thing that's possible.

Directories, dofollow blogs, forums, etc. just will not work anymore to get to PR6 and above.

Go create something that people want SO MUCH and something they wanna share and maybe in 6-18 months you will reach your PR7 in a natural way.

If you are looking for the shortcut, you will be axed most likely.

    Good luck

Keep doing what you are doing right now and forget everything about PR.

Don't make it too quick with artificial link building and don't get involved in shady link schemes like link-exchange.

    Read more about Google sandbox.

Just provide quality information and do social media marketing you will definitely get both Google PR love and SERP love.

But if you are impatient - you will kill your project at its birth.

There is no sense aiming so high pr,it takes a lot of energy and resources and you maybe wont get desired result.

I totally agree with 'jhnrang' but as an advice, focus on your website ranking in the SERP's more than you do on your PR dude ;)
