I think the main thing is just to learn the basic html SEO stuff(title, h1, em etc.), what to do what not to do etc. Then work your way up. The three most basic things I always remember are... Perfect your title tags Always use plain text navigation, use CSS to spruce it up Always use h1 tags for headers and h2, h3 for subheaders Use title="" for your links and alt&title for your image tags Never make something look spammy, avoid making links/title/header too long but also avoid making them too short. Use the <em> and <strong> tags for the odd keyword
