Godaddy SEO question

I'm working on a new site and something occurred to me. When you sign up with godaddy hosting they provide you with a welcome.html page, which I'm assuming acts as sort of the index.html.

For on site SEO purposes, when ever I am using say the "home" link on a page, should the link be www.example.com, or www.example.com/welcome.html?

Naturally for link building I would use www.example.com, but not using the welcome.html extension on the site is life and death?

I use both to promote the domain and the welcome page.

It's mostly up to your preference, I'd recommend www.example.com, it's most likely what others will be using to link to your website also..

I keep it to the www.example.com The other suggestion I have for godaddy is that some of their forums have good link power and I would encourage you to participate.
