What about registrars that let you search domains through https instead of http which Godaddy uses. Does that make it more secure for searching names & people domain tasting those names?
Sheesh. I can't believe that people are still going on about this. Let me make two suggestions: 1. download one of the many freeware desktop whois utilities and search for domains safely from your own computer 2. when you find one you like, buy it - if you had the idea, chances are good that someone among the billions of other humans on the planet had the same idea (or similar enough) - don't expect it to wait around a couple of weeks while you make up your mind
<quote by Minstrial> Seems highly unlikely to me. I agree with Mr. Minstrial.... I search for tons and tons of domains daily and only occasionally buy one.... so based on what you are saying, out of the millions of folks that search for names daily and don't buy that one ... some scoffs it up.... Get a life.... some one would have to buy 10,000 useless domans per day... as I guarantee you that many are searched for and never purchased.... also many auto programs hunt like that all day..
You obviously don't know a great deal about domain tasting then. These guys aren't out of pocket. They test the domain for traffic and get a refund if they don't keep the name.
I probably sound paranoid, but I'd rather not use any of those free utilities that might feed data to their respective designers. You guys can always check the same source every registrar queries for .com: http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois Of course, if you can't trust them, I don't know who you can trust.
yeah i believe godaddy sells.i had the same experience with godaddy more at .mobi names.i m from many .mobi turkish word domains are taken by foreigners. israels mostly, and others..i dont know how they reach this names. and i believe many registrar does it,so when i will buy a domain i search and pick it up instantly..
Yes, well some people still believe you can foretell the future in tea leaves or animal bones, and that black cats or the number 13 are unlucky. That's what superstitious thinking is all about.
I ended up being able to register this domain, which I am cheering about! Turns out maybe I wasn't being so superstitious afterall. In the week or so after the initial registration, I saw the domain change hands a second time before it became available again. To the guys who think this is a real issue, never use the godaddy interface to check for availability. I always normally use whois.sc without a problem. Only when you want to register the domain straight away then go and use godaddy if you want to still use them for registrations.
Dude how much more of an idiot do you want to make yourself look? Like seriously I am telling it like it is take from it what you want.
I believe that's precisely what I just did. The things that some people pass off as "proof" and the willingness of some people to give supernatural powers to conincidence never fails to amaze me.
What I am passing off is factual and exactly what happened to me and many others - whether you want to believe it or not is a different story it seems. Every issue I have raised with you in this thread you have avoided, which kinda tells you something.
I think I have made myself pretty clear on the incident and the goings on. What part of the situation do you not agree on or have problems not understanding
I think I've been pretty clear in my posts, too. It's called "superstitious thinking": Two unrelated events occur in temporal coincidence and the individual asumes incorrectly that the two are causally related.
If it was only a coincidence I wouldn't think so much of the matter, but it's more then that. Why are these domains being picked up in an automated fashion only when using godaddy (and perhaps other registrar interfaces) and being dropped about 5 days later? (if there not getting traffic) Why is it these same registrants are getting these domains? Your logic that someone else is thinking of the same idea and registering the names at the same time is flawed. The internet should be about having a level playing field, and from what's going on this doesn't appear to be the case.
