GoDaddy Problem

OK, one of my website design clients is having trouble transferring his domain from GoDaddy, where he is paying $80 a year for a domain and hosting, to DomainSite, where he will pay $8 per year for the domain and get hosting through my company.

So, he called GoDaddy to cancel the services and release the domain for a transfer. GoDaddy told him them wanted a copy of his driver's license faxed to them. He did that. Then they called him back. They still won't cancel the services. They want a copy of his business's Business License to prove that they are a business. He is going to fax that over. But he fears they may ask for a third form of identification.

Have any of you guys ever had trouble with GoDaddy in this way? What can my client do if they ask for a third form of ID?

I think Godaddy thinks that there is something fishy and don't want to loose their customer. It is actually fairly easy to get the domain transferred over to another registrar.

Although, the main question is, why transfer the domain when you can just change the nameservers and enjoy it the simple way. Your friend can just have the hosting service canceled off. Godaddy is good at the business of providing domains.

Then give them the ID.Why not ask clearly all the things he should prepare and give them at once?

If he is transfering, he shouldn't have to go through all of that. Did your friend lose access to his account? If so, they would have to do that to get him into his account so that he could transfer the domain. Just send the stuff, hopefully everything will check out.
