I have been reading threads and keep seeing that godaddy is not recommended for webhosting and i was wondering what the reason was? Also, is yahoo a good webhost?
Godaddy is not only complicated, but for a newbie it will extremely confusing. I've never been silly enough to buy godaddy hosting, but I know people who have and they have constant problems with uptime and overselling. Yahoo is like network solutions, overpriced.
I have been using a godaddy hosting plan for more than 5 years, and all I can say about it is perfect for any purpose, it has a really easy interface that you can get used to it, but of course some people have some difficulties but it's not about godaddy it's related with their lack of knowledge
I do not recommend either one. Godaddy is ok but there are much better host. If you use their hosting, register your domain somewhere else. Never have the domain at the same place as the hosting. If you end up with any hosting problems and they suspend your account, they can also lock your domain and your site is out of your hand. If you have them separate and keep back ups, you can have the site up on another host in a couple of hours or less. Stay away from Yahoo, way too many problems with them.
So who would you recommend using as a host? I have read a lot of good concerning Hostgator! Also, i am not really experienced with computers so it must have templates, etc.
hosts doesn't have any templates, non of the hosting companies offer free turnkey websites, you have to have it coded or have to learn how to use some web design programs so you also need some "know how"
Godaddy are fine for one or two domain hosting. I would also suggest LunarPages for hosting. You can start off with a basic plan or move to one of their multi domain plans when you want to go further. You can also find some new LunarPages coupon codes here. Another host that offers a good deal for the price is Dotster.com and you can use coupon code "bargaincat.com" to get 15% off your hosting or domain names at Dotster.
I believe the Yahoo small business network will be costly when it comes to renewal. Secondly with Godaddy you will have total freedom
