Godaddy mot to wait Oct 14 to become most expensive registrar?

    The price increases are probably to pay for those naked babes they keep hiring to promote the domain registration service. Their marketing is tacky and sensationalist, and puts me off from using them.

    The price increase is massive on a percentage basis, but you can use the many coupon codes available to enjoy lower rates.

    Their advertising campaign is superb though, but with such costs, I guess they have to jack up prices a bit. However I think their strategy is to up the prices. Make more coupon promotions frequently to attract those who are price sensitive.

    I still use GoDaddy as this is one of the registrars i Trust on :) and btw... I get the .com @ 7.15 inclusive of everything using a PROMO Code..

    I think its a great marketing strategy from GoDaddy's perspective. The person coming in to buy just a few domains pays the $10.19 rate. The domainers either use the coupon codes or join the discount domain club and receive very competitive prices. I've never had any problems with GoDaddy and right now have about 260 names with them.

    You folks complaining about the price of a one year registration at GoDaddy for a domain should be paying more attention to the price fluctuation that you pay every week at the gas pump - and your atm fees.

    You're bitching about a buck and a half for a year long domain?

    Good freakin grief.

    GoDaddy (and all their affiiliates) deliver a good service. Pay them, get it over with and be happy they don't f@#$ you like other places.

    I've used them exclusively and never paid more than $6.95 for a site name... It's all about the codes... ANd if you are a noob you will pay the noob couponless code.

    .50 * 20 Gallons * 52 Weeks = $520 a year to keep the car on the road due to a gas price increase.

    I guess you don't drive a car. Can't afford a small price increase in a registrar's fees (for an annual budget - hell I spend $150 a month on piss pots for nothing) - oh well. Just my thoughts.

    Now if you have 1000 domains and the price goes up by 1.50, which means you're out an additional 1500 a year, means you should either be re-examining your business model, or upcharging your clients (1.50 a year per domain - ha!) to cover your costs.

    An increase of $1.50 a domain name is not really a big deal. If you cannot make that money within a year from that domain then you probably might want to reconsider your business plan. Do not commit to more than what you can afford.

    You cannot look at the cost increase for all your domain names as a whole because you were the one who subscribed to that many, you should only look at one at a time.

    You can always stagger the renewals of your domain names like a couple each month if you think the lump payment is too painful for you.

    I love Godaddy. I can order domains in bulk: .mobi for $8.99 with privacy, my .coms i just get for $1.99 any time I make another purchase for something like hosting, and I have a $25/month VPS there with 3 IPs.

    I've had three problems with the bulk checkout not applying my free privacy, and each time I called and was talking to somebody within a minute, then they were glad to fix it all and even let me trade in a typo I made for a new name. Also, the girl I talked to told me to email her for a really nice discount when I upgrade to a fully dedicated server... 30 - 40%.

    I would pay MORE for this service. Makes my life so much easier, but it looks like the cheapest too, if you get everything through them, you will always be having a 10 - 30% discount on everything, and things will move fast.

    Ok, I shoulda just got paid for that ad lol

    You can get a .com for only $6.95 from myzoz.com This is a godaddy reseller That has cheaper prices than godaddy and you still get the same phone support and all other services you get from godaddy.

    If you look at my price list, mine are $6.85 with private registration or $1.99 when you buy hosting, plus they send you special member only offers once in a while. Last was 30% off $125 or more.

    This is all for a $30/year domain buyer club membership.

    If you are paying high at godaddy, it's because you're trying to split your business between to many vendors and you're not able to get the wholesale discounts.

    Centralizing is a crucial first step in the growth of any business. It will only compound after that as your vendors start to beg you not to leave them. But why should they care about somebody who comes in and spends $10? That one transaction could end up costing more in tech support then they made.
