Hey guys, I have a problem, I have a couple of sites which look at selling binoculars, the US market is a good market for binoculars, and therefore I based my sites on this fact. From a consumer perspective, I know that from a US citizen viewpoint, when searching in Google, if I am looking for binoculars, I am only going to be interested in results from the US, not worldwide....As a result of this, I ensured the hosting was with GoDaddy because their hosting was based in the US. I have now checked some sites, and according to the site analysis tool www.xinureturns.com my sites are now hosted in Canada....And believe me when I say the Canadian binocular market is nowhere near as active as the US market. So guys, what do I do? My understanding is, that when a US citizen now does a local (US only) search in Google for binoculars, my site will be excluded because it is officially hosted in Canada, is there anyway of getting around this, or is my understanding incorrect? I am aware that some people do worldwide searches for everything and my site will be shown then, however obviously for some things you don't do worldwide searches, e.g. If you are looking for Tax advice etc, you are not going to be interested in Canadian sites or English sites if you are in the US. Any advice appreciates guys. Thanks.
You can set the geographic location of your site using Google Webmaster Tools www.google.com/webmasters. Sign in, and register your site (if you've not already done so - why not? ) and then click on "Tools" and then "Set Geographic Location". Jon
