Godaddy & Mambo Question

I used Godaddy's automatic installer to install mambo.

Everything works fine except that they installed it to /mambo.

So you have to go to mysite.com/mambo instead of mysite.com

Any ideas on how to move this into the parent directory? I tried to FTP the files from /mambo into the root but that messed the whole site up.

I am lost. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    1. Uninstall mambo (using the uninstall option given, if any by the script you used to install it)

    Manually Install Mambo

    2. Download mambo, unzip and upload all files using ftp to your root
    3. Install from there on...

    Thanks for your answer.

So if I do that, does that mean I will have to re-enter all my content? All my content pages are already set up.

    Not necessary

Actually there is better way, I think you tried it out but let me go over it again

    1. Copy all files under mambo directory to root (anyhow you can)
    2. Once you are done, you need to change your absolute paths in configuration.php and may be in database

This way what you are doing is just changing the mambo installation directory, leaving everything else intact

You said you tried this, but did you changed the path accordingly. If you change it right, it should work without any trouble.

    Let know!

    Thank you so much!

I wasn't changing configuration.php so that's why it didn't work when I tried to move the files.

It works perfectly now. Thank you again.

hey i have never used mambo, but this is something funny i use godaddy, and i seen all the "Value Applications" and there is mambo included :D , but heres something funny, most of these applications need a database, and i have installed xoops and smf (simple machine forums) from the HOSTING MANAGER.

I did not install them directly, (downloading the latest version...uploading by ftp etc..) I just click installed and surprise, they appear !
    mydomain/smf
    mydomain/xoops

Now theres something weird, in the HOSTING MANAGER, go to databases, mysql.

    And WTF!.

    MySQL Databases
    (0 of 25)

    You have no databases !!!

that is why I installed xoops and smf directly. I created the databases manually etc... and now there they are.

    My question is.

    1. If you install a feature for example, Xoops, from the hosting manager, where i that database located ????? is it free just because its like an add-on and you didnt install it manually????

If someone uses godaddy please answer... I want to know, of course im not going to use any of those features if the database is not in my control.

Hope you understand. (sorry about the non-mambo post)

well it has to do with mambo and godaddy..

I used to use godaddy but later stopped as their montly hosting is too expensive (4$). I would suggest call them up and ask whats going on. They have good customer service though.
