Unfortunetly my company uses GoDaddy which means I have to put up with them on a daily basis (in my personal life, I would never so much as touch GoDaddy with a ten foot pole) Beyond the crappy "custom cpanelish" back-end (seriously, just use Cpanel, what is this garbage) - awesome, a "cpanel" littered with Ads and bullshit. It is in no way shape or form user friendly. You will spend hours trying to find what you need. The Godaddy website in general looks like a BrandsMart USA, in case you don't know what that looks like: GoDaddy is the equivalent of an online BrandsMart USA, not just in it's ugly (and confusing) layout littered with ads and ugly colors - but in its marketing schemes as well. The worst part of it all? Working with this crappy custom cpanel, it takes YEARS to do ANYTHING! Anything you do will result in a status of "pending" - sometimes things will "pend" for hours, if not days. Until you check back the next day to see whatever you tried to do "failed" - Wasted Time. Install Wordpress with the SUPER EASY OMG ONE CLICK INSTANT INSTALL!!!! "Pending Install" Hour later: "Pending Database Creation" 5 Hours Later: "Installation failed" I sincerely believe whenever you do something they physically have monkeys working there that go in and do that "automatic" thing you are trying to do. Godaddy sucks, avoid it. AND NO I DONT NEED HOSTING, DONT MESSAGE ME ABOUT YOUR HOSTING!!
Yep, GoDaddy is possibly one of the worst hosts out there. That's what happens when you use a domain registrar for hosting. People just don't seem to get that though.
Nice post 'cluongo18' couldn't have said it better and with such humour - lol You really have to ask why such a big company persists in running with an in house control panel which is so confusing to use and which their clients consistantly seem to hate! I guess as you say, it is designed more to push their overwhelming promotional material rather than provide ease of use. We could say more - but our head monkey says we better leave our comments 'pending' - lol.
Not only that, but they restrict the number of emails you send per day.... i mean what? even if they are subscribers to your mailing list, I use to have some servers with them, and that's on Shared Dedicated Servers, they use PLESK for virtualization, they should use VMWare or other Linux Hypervisor.
A lot of companies restrict the number of emails to prevent spam, unless you can legitimately prove that you need to send more than that limit. Once you prove that you need more, you shouldn't have any problem having the restriction lifted.
Also, they block you again after 3 months, they did it so many times i had to change my customers to one of my servers. I use godaddy for some customers, but they grow out of it quickly.
Yes, so true, bigger does not mean better. Godaddy has had an enormous amount of bad reviews this month that I have come across. I also think that it is a poor decision not to offer cPanel to clients. I mean it is as if they don't care enough to give a customer one of the best tools for hosting. There are many good mid sized companies that offer affordable hosting with cPanel. Mid-sized hosting provides just seem to care about their clients more. They treat you as a person not as an account number.
They use sexy chicks to attract people and have the most aggressive way to up sell you additional service while you want just a domain.
Their hosting is crap. It has so many limitations and it is the only hosting my customers ever have problem with running simple scripts on...
Yesterday i contacted hostgator and x10hosting regarding backingup and site restorations. This is how the story went. I think everybody should read this http://galaxiess2.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-did-this-all-start-i-will-narrate.html
yeah their linux server setting also very difficult................its really difficult to setup .htaccess file in that
Godaddy has never been the choise of hosting plans for me I use Hostgator and like it User friendly...
