I had a lot of problems with my hosting at godaddy. The mysql server throws an "Unknown MySQL server host" from time to time. I had to make a script to reaload the page when that happens because the guys from godaddy told me that they could not verify the problem. It does not happene to them. Sux.. Now, I needed a mysql backup. I made a mistake and lost one of my databases. I saw on their site that there are two backup option. One is made by their server each day and one is at my hand to make it. Unfortunately I do not have one made by me and when I called godaddy they told me that I have to pay over $100 to get the server backup. That sux!!! Did you experience this?
Godaddy is domain registrar, and their hosting services are dedicated for absolute newbies who need to host simple .HTML pages with several lines of text and several images. If your needs are bigger, then you should search for real hosting provider.
I've used them for several months and never had issues with their hosting, other than the retarded tech support department. Maybe you're unlucky or you're running a broken script?
Well, GoDAddy is quite good for domains, but everybody complains about their web hosting service. I think that you'd help a lot to many who would come here to ask for a reference if you explain what made you to sign up with them as a web host and to tell others what to do or not to do.
GoDaddy is best for domains because of the price after coupons. Name.com is only good when they have the $5.99 .com sale.
godaddy is good for domain names. the hosting is expensive and not reliable. they should really work on the hosting
I use godaddy for domains and never had any problems. Hosting on the other hand I would never trust godaddy. Go daddy hosting appeals to noobies and doesn't offer much in service.
I have chosen Godaddy because I can host many domains in one account and it is only ~6-8 per month. The biggest problem until now is their mysql server that is "missing" sometimes. After a reload usually the mysql server is available. It is not a script problem, I have that problem with all my sites, even with wordpress. I contacted their tech support and they told me that they could not replicate the issue, therefore, they cannot help me. So, what I need is a good hosting that does not cost over $10/month and will let me host many domains in one account. As far I can see, fatcow does not have a per month payment, only per year. I want to check them out before I buy. Right now I am on chat with their representative but I am not happy... The guy forgot to say hello, he jumped in with a "how can i help you?", but after my reply he felt asleep for a few minutes. When he came back he asked me "what site are you chatting with me from?", so... they does not seem to be what I need. Anyways, they do not have <month to month> plans available. After the guy told me this I thanked him and he closed the discussion, again, with no goodbye or thanks for contacting us. Sux... it`s hard to find a good company... [edit] Hostgator's tech support told me that So, they have the same mysql issue as GoDaddy...
Francisc, Sorry to find you with these concerns. If you're still experiencing this issue, please PM me confirming the domain name so I can take a look. If you're in need of a back up, you should be able to restore a nightly backup of your MySQL database. This article provides you with the instructions - http://help.godaddy.com/article/5648. Let me know if that's not the case and I can arrange one for you. Regards, Alicia
GDHosting, thank you for your intervention. The problem is still there. I understand that it is not easy to spot it because not allays happens.. but still, it is ugly to show to my visitors a DB missing error. I had to edit all my files where I had a mysql connection to reload on a missing DB. I have written a script to run a mysql connect in every 5 seconds. I've run it for one hour and did not had the problem.. It does not happen all the time..
@GDHosting: I am trying to make a backup of my files on your server. There is only ONE option. To download all the files, one by one, by FTP. The problem is that the FTP disconnects a lot of times and I have to restart the connection. I have a question. Is there any possibility that you add a backup generator like cPanel has? It would be great if you could make a system that will make an archive with my files and all the databases. I was surprised to see that there is no option to make a full backup...

Get the backup anyhow, and get out of daddy as soon as possible, and look forward for either hostgator or hosmonster if you're requirments needs best shared hosting environment.
Absolutely..I was totally nuts to have gone for Godaddy at one point of time. Complete waste of time and money for me. Hostmonster anyday of the week.
