Well i already have few domains registered with godaddy

Planning to host it with them

What is your take, should i go with godaddy or go for another reliable webhost
Because, after going through various posts here, i m reluctant, i emailed their support and the reply was quick, i have to just sign up:p

Is it possible to keep the domains there and host it with some other webhost, what is the procedure that i have to carry out to get it hosted somewhere and keep the domains with godaddy

Any experiences are welcome, will make me wiser:D

You can register a domain name at one place and host at another. GoDaddy gives you total DNS control and if you intend to host at any server, all you have to do is to change nameservers in domain registrar control panel.

You may look at my services too, where you get a .info domain for only $ 1.99 with any hosting package. (pubdomains.com)

    Thanks

If you're planning to make something serious, then godaddy hosting won't work for you.

I'd suggest HostGator baby shared hosting plan. Check my sig. for more info.

Do not use godaddy for anything. Their control panel is a mess and their hosting its even messier mess. If you ever get problems they are very arrogant. I use namecheap for about 100 domains and will move 50 from GD to namecheap as soon as possible. never godaddy again. I use http://www.dimensionservers.com for hosting, you cant find better support than there :)

I just started to switch to hostgator this week, and it's awesome! Super fast, only a couple dollars more a month for, what, 6 times the amount of bandwith and storage I think. First thing I noticed that it was a ton faster. I'm definitely moving all my hosting there. Don't use Godaddy, like they said above, at least not for shared plans.

i had this decision to make a few months ago , and at the time eveyone gave GD a hard time so i went with hostgator , and i have not regretted it , they have been easy to work with and cheap - i am also on the baby plan as mentioned above - bear in mind i am quite anewbie and dont have too mnay sites with decent traffic.

Also people keep saying you cannot host proxy on hostgator , all i can say is i cant find any info on their site thats says you cant and i have one running , its the php one .... again it aint busy and should it become popular i think they would comaplin a i am on a shared server ... but for the moment it gives me a chance to experiment

So as far as I am concened HOSTGATOR ROCKS

Important!! Make sure that the host has been online for at least one year.
I promise you success here: dimensionservers.com (I am not affiliated with it, but I use it for hosting.)

When you sign up with other host just update your Nameservers and keep your domains with Godaddy. You can update the nameservers through Godaddy and host them somewhere else if you wish to.

I hate Godaddy for domain registration for their messy control panel and 10 steps (including going to paypal then returning to godaddy website ) to do domain push although it is free. let alone hosting with them - this is the last thing in the world you can ever think of
