Godaddy & Google were Penalized by China and Ceased Service

In the past few days, google and godaddy stopped China service one by one. To date, google moved it's Chinese server to Hongkong, as well as godaddy already stop China domain registrations.

As China portal sites 163.com said that, google and godaddy were penalized by China Gov.

How do you think about this affair?

Where do you get the information on GoDaddy?
It's known that Google moved out China, but not sure about GoDaddy.

LOL, as if the Chinese gvnt is the one taking the action here. :D

Both of these decisions originated within the companies - and now the Chinese government is trying to spin it in their advantage....

Here is an official source about GoDaddy - In response to new rules, GoDaddy to stop registering domain names in China - Washington Post

I don't like the way of Chinese Government done in just trying to ceased someone with such a reckless rules

    It is weird, isn't?

I was under the impression they weren't directly penalized, but China's "policies" changed, and Google and GoDaddy are refusing to comply, which I agree with.

To Quote Christine Jones, general counsel for GoDaddy: "...the new Chinese policies required every website owner to submit photographs, business information and individually signed forms, as well as their physical address, email address and telephone numbers.

    That's Communism for ya!

Latest news indicates that Google will move their servers and domain name to Hong Kong, but keep their development and sales staff on mainland China.
    Google.cn now redirects to google.com.hk.
It seems like Google will not kowtow to the censorship wishes of the Chinese government, and will stay until they are forced out. Good move in many ways, I think. From a business and an ethical standpoint.

Good for GoDaddy. I am glad to hear they are willing to sacrifice profits to uphold their moral base.
