How do you get the free one year extension promised by Godaddy if you transfer your domain to them? Is the free extension given to you automatically on the next renewal schedule?

I think Godaddy is saying that when you pay for the transfer, they give you an additional 1 year free. But the total is just one year, so they are not being honest with you and make it sound like you are getting something extra that other registrars don't give you, which is false. I don't know why such a large a successful company like Godaddy feels they have to screw around like that with people, but they do...

When you transfer to Godaddy, they give you 1 years renewal added to whatever date your domain was originally meant to expire.

It appears that it's not really free because you'd pay on the next billing period. You pay in advance to Godaddy by paying the initial cost of transfer, and the next year, your bill comes around.
