GoDaddy Domain Question

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Mecal, Nov 17, 2008.

Hey all, I was looking up domains for a new website I plan on making.
Anyway, I saw that as a .com it was 9.99/yr
however, as .info it just said .99 - with no "/yr" on it. Just that mean its just .99 straight up, no yearly cost or anything?

also, how would that work once I own the domain (to say transfer it to another hosting company?)

    Thanks

There is always an annual renewal fee. The .99 is just for the first year - renewals are more.

I got a domain for 99c but it's only for first year. Still a good offer tho.

but you'll have to pay 900% on the following years.. If I were you, I'd go for a .com and you can get .com for $7.69 in godaddy

OK, I figured that would be the case. thanks
I'll probably stick to my original idea: a Domain/Hosting package from Bluehost

It's good for a start, but what if you change Bluehost?

domains are very cheap with godaddy but I have tried name.com they are good an offer google apps and free private whois well there's a lot of competition in the domain business !

I don't know? What reason would I have to change?

You always have to renew your domains, maybe it was $0.99 with another purchase? It will almost certainly only be for one year.

It didn't say what it would be for another year.
However, I checked again, it does say there's the ICANN fee, which is 20 cents per year. But other than that it doesnt say any other yearly fees.

Confirm again at the shop cart. Check carefully before you make the last payment.

If you are wanting to take a serious stab at a website, I would spend the extra money to get the .com

To me, they just look more professional and I think that others may feel the same way.

I haven't gotten that far, since I'd have to sign up for that.

I'll probably just stick to a hosting package. Seems simpler for what I'm looking for.

Although, then again... if I bought it on GoDaddy and transferred the domain, I woulds still own it, even after my hosting expired (and I chose not to renew it), yeah?

    edit:

yeah, this is why I was thinking of going with the package deal too. I'd get the .com without any extra $.
Granted, the website I plan on making is in regards with information :)
