I recently purchased a dot EU domain. It was just a straight push from him to me on GoDaddy. So I entered all the little special codes in and whatnot and I get to the checkout and instead of saying $0.00, it says $19.99 (look at the image below). Me and him are both very confused. The domain was just registered on July 19th. Can someone shine some light on this situation? Thanks
Does the expiration date changed (+1 years) if not this will be a disaster for .eu domains if other registrars are doing the same , if this is only for godaddy then it is too bad and noone will buy one from them.
What you see in the screenshot is pretty much all the information. It didn't mention if it was changing anything, not even the expiration date. It doesn't even cost $19.99 to register a dot EU which makes things even crazier.
I think it is not godaddys fault http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?article_id=1444&topic_id=160 Why is There a Non-Refundable Transfer Fee to Transfer a .EU Domain? Last Updated: August 9, 2006 3:33 PM Print This Article The EU registry charges a non-refundable fee to transfer any domain names. If the transfer fails for any reason, you will have to start over and pay the transfer fee again the bolded sentence scared me
Whoa... nice find! I was reading through their policies like nothing else... lol. I'm surprised that I have never heard anything about this before.
Just call godaddy and talk to a sales rep. Whenever I have a problem with my reseller account I just call them right up. They usually can fix whatever the problem is, in this case it looks like an error to me.
This was not an error , this was .eu domain policy have you read it ? Why is There a Non-Refundable Transfer Fee to Transfer a .EU Domain? I emailed them earlier just to double check. Below is their response... "When you do a change of account for a .eu domain the .eu registry views this as a transfer. As such you have to pay the normal registration fee of $19.99."
Sadly, no. It's strictly registry fees which should technically apply to every registrar. I'm just happy the domain isn't expiring anytime soon. That wouldv'e really pissed me off.
just checked the eurid page http://www.eurid.eu/content/view/86/55/lang,da/ under Trade: Note: The new registrar is charged for the execution of a trade and he is only charged if the name is successfully traded. interesting cause godaddy's policy says If the transfer fails for any reason, you will have to start over and pay the transfer fee again It is nice to learn that djmadfx had no problems.
