Think i know the answer on this one, but we're buying 15 domains in the next few days. Can we buy them through our own links? Assuming not, but thought 20% of the sale would be nice, although we've got a 20% off coupon that'll be used... hmmm
The answer is yes. GoDaddy would like your business either way. In general affiliate programs want the affiliates to buy/use their products. It is part of the understanding that they will use the affiliate link. A sale is a sale.
On a somewhat related note, Godaddy doesn't like you to use their hosting affiliate link to purchase your hosting for yourself.
Gary, I've seen the opposite with many programs. Most of them don't want you to buy through your affiliate link. I can give many examples. Some of them accept it, but from what I see, not in general. The rule of thumb is: if you have a doubt, contact your affiliate manager.
I would have to drop some of the best affiliate programs... and some of the best services... Some will even cancel the service if you use your affiliate code. That is why I never used my affiliate code to buy anything, and it would have saved me thousands of dollars... For example Amazon clearly state that: "You may not purchase products during sessions initiated through the links on your site for your own use" http://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ent/ref=amb_link_597002_1/002-8362731-5906407 So do check with each affiliate program if you can, or cannot buy from your own affiliate link. You will avoid some problems.
