Godaddy.com allows proxy sites on their dedicated servers. I want to pass this message along because i had to wait for a 1/2 hour to get this answer (long distance, nonetheless). One issue that they did mention, however, was that I would be responsible for all of the security issues that a proxy site brings. What is he referring to? He was unable to expound on it because he was just a peon relaying information from his supervisor (and his supervisor's boss). Anyways, I'm looking at buying the following dedicated server from godaddy: Linux: Red Hat Fedora Core 4 -or- CentOS 4 120 GB Drive 1500 GB data transfer Pentium 4 w/HT 2 GB RAM Simple Control Panel Unlimited For $166.45 I will be running 10 proxy sites from it and adverstising them pretty hard. My Concerns: What is the security issue that they say I'm responsible for? Is 1500 GB enough for this large proxy network? Is this a good deal? You input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Security issue means that if your users use proxy for illegal purpose then you will be responsible for it and normally they shut down servers anyway this deal looks exepensive to me check this deal http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=569759 Package AMD 64 3800 A (Hot Deal) * AMD Athlon 64 3800 * 2 GB RAM * 80 GB SATA Drive * 2000 GB BW * 100Mbit/s port * Cpanel/WHM/RVSkins Free Setup + $129 /month I have this server and running 4 proxies on it and i am extremely happy with service Hope it helps Saad
