You will have the same IP. Hosting 2 or more domains in 1 hosting will not harm your ranking in google.

Anyway, I once paid upfront for 1 year hosting at godaddy, I moved to hostgator after a month because Godaddy is not a good host at all. They are good registrar but but host.

I use Godaddy and host about 10 sites on the Deluxe Plan.

    Its simple.

    1. Open your FTP.

    2. In the Root Directory Create 2 folders. "Site1" and "Site2"

    3. Put all the files for "Site1" in the "Site1" folder.

    4. Do the same for "Site2"

    5. Now go to Godaddy.com and log in to your hosting account.

    6. Click on "My Account"

    7. At the top of the screen, on the green bar, mouse over "Hosting &
Servers". A drop down menu will appear. Click on "My Hosting Account"

    8. At the center of the screen you will see your hosting account. Click "open".

    9. On the new window that opens you will see a green bar at the top. Mouse over "Settings". It will opena drop down menu. Click on "Domain Management"

    10. Now you will see "Assign Domain to Hosting Site " and 2 drop down menus. Select the URL you wish to assign in the first drop down menu, for example, "Site1".

    11. In the next drop down menu select "<enter directory path>". and type in the name of the file you created for your "Site1". In this example, you would type /site1

    12. Do the same for your other site. Example: Site2 would be /site2

    13. You are done. You have designated different folders for differnt sites on the same hosting. This is how I run my sites. Google will treat it as seperate websites.

Don't worry about that. I have many sites hosted on the same hosting and each one has a different page rank. Google doesn't care about how you host the site. They will get page rank.

Its not necessary. One site can run off the Root Directory and the 2nd site can run of another directory you create. You can do it either way. You just have to set it up with the google controls as I described above.

GoDaddy's uploader sucks arse, and their website is a damn maze. They make it so damn hard to find anything. I actually had to call customer service just to find my bandwidth usage on their webpage.

I use a FTP program called Filezilla. I do everything from within Filezilla. The only time I go to GoDaddy's website is when I am setting up a new site or need to change something.

Just use a 301 redirect or block the /dir123 in the robots.txt. Easy as that :)

surekhaweb, I hope you don't mind my saying this, but what you are trying to do, is not really sensible. You are wasting your time trying to solve a nonexistent problem.

Here is my advice for you:
Do not create any links pointing to www. 1stsite. com/dir123 Instead always link to www. 2ndsite. com
That is all you need to do. Google bot has not reason to read urls it knows nothing about.

Ok I have found an interesting problem that affects us both. Here is the problem and I need an answer:

We have a website hosted in the root directory, www.site1.com. We added a second site in another directory. We titled the directory "Site2". The address for this site is www.site2.com.

Here is where the problem begins: if you type www.site1.com/site2 it will open the second site as a part of the first site.

So the question is: How do you stop this? And secondly how can you prevent google from finding this and thinking it is part of the first site? Thirdly, how can you prevent people from discovering this and exploiting it in some way?
