Godaddy.com and the best hosting service

Lately I was looking for a web hosting service for my new funny video site. As I was planning long term, my primary preferences were to locate a well reputed web hosting company who would offer plenty of bandwidth and of course for the best price. That’s the time when I heard about godaddy.com and halted across this eye popping offer:

So for the sake of it I bought the one year plan. It hadn’t been long before I finally realized it wasn’t a very wise decision off me.

The control panel - every time I had to access it I had to go through godaddy.com homepage and the whole thing was so not user friendly with unwanted hassle that from the first days of my purchase I started to realize that I’ve made a mistake.

The worst part is the mysql database management. When I tried to open a new database I had to log off from the control panel as refreshing wasn’t enough for the newly set database to show onscreen. I had a nightmare managing my databases and it wasn’t long when i just gave up.

I had experience with cPanel and now i know if I ever need a solid web hosting I cant compromise price over quality. Godaddy.com is supposed to be one of the best and biggest out there. But as for me i was absolutely disappointed and now is looking for a new host!

Godaddy is good for domain, not host. I will suggest ICDsoft. You can search on google. They have very good reviews.

I got into the whole wow, this is great thing as well, and both my sites are currently hosted at godaddy. Their service however sucks. It's really annoying, you have to pay to get domain privacy, pay to add Anything, only php , only 10 databses and so on. So, I'm kind of looking at bluehost...anyone have any experiences with bluehost? They seem to be quite good

    Regarding domains : I own over 100 , all on dotster .
When I wanted to move to godaddy , they dropped their price to 8.90$ , instead of their 14.95$....

They have a way better interface for domain management ...

I was with godaddy about 3 or 4 years ago and tried to upgrade an account. For some reason the whole account got shut down.

I'd send in a help ticket and get an email that someone would help me something like 24 hours.

Then they would reply 24 hours later with an answer to something totaly off the wall.

I made 4 phone calls and finally got told they were having system problems and it might be faster to find another host or open a new account.

If it was me I would fine someone that post a lot on forums and sells hosting.

Not sure if I would want to go with a big companie again.

I get tired of godaddy constantly trying to upsell me. It's obvious that these guys (I call them Godaddy affiliates) get paid a commission for each sale they get.

Just the other day they tried to convince me that I was getting "way too much traffic" and that I needed my own dedicated server. Turns out I had only used 250 mbs out of a possible 250,000 mbs of bandwidth. With only 30 visitors a day this guy was trying to get me to move to a dedicated host.

Of course if I actually had an increase in traffic then my revenue would have gone up and getting a dedicated server would make since. However, that was not the case. Just some guy trying to fool me into paying more for the same service.

It's really sad because besides the terrible customer service I have no other complaints about the godaddy service. They've been pretty good to me otherwise.

Young, a small amount of traffic can use up a lot of a servers resources. Ask for CPU/memory usage stats from your site next time someone tries to pull that and check their TOS.
