Hi all More and more over the recent months I am seeing people come to be with crashed websites in and around April time of course the dates all match pengiun and some of the sites did break the rules. However many where in perfect SEO health at the time and they were getting huge drops in rankings. After delving a little deeper and using the google webmaster tools of clients who had set this up previously. All showed 302 errors for months and guess what they all shared the same web host GODADDY. So from experience there customer support sucks and the fix is usually on a forum board somewhere in the WWW rather than from them. I began a search on google and spent 3 hours reading all the posts from customers. Here is some of the points in summary. The 302 error will show in google webmaster tools or any other tool that reads header response. HTTP/1.1 302 Found Connection: close Pragma: no-cache cache-control: no-cache Location: /testpage.html This will show for pages that are found 200 and pages that are not found 404. You dont need me to tell you all what trouble this is going to cause you in the SEO world. I have noticed that loading the page twice will fix the error first time 302 error second time 200 or 404 accordingly. This isnt much use to googlebot who only calls once. I tried all sorts of different methods for example change error page to .php exstention remove .htaccess none will work as its server based there end. So now time to try them direct knowing there support excuses I wrote an email with many examples of this 302 BS in force and asked when it would be fixed. Here is there reply. -------------------------------------------------------------------- GODADDY Thank you for contacting Online Support. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The issue you have been experiencing with the account showing 302 results for some services is being worked on by our technicians. Service will return to normal as soon as possible. We are unable to give a specific time frame for this resolution. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter and we apologize for any inconvenience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interesting a search on google show this has been going on for over 3 years. Seems to be a problem with grid hosting mostly. Of course all customers are being advised to port over to HG before its to late. Just thought I would share this info incase anyone else is wondering where there rankings went.
