Interesting... will take that into account lol. That's not the first excerpt I've heard that is somewhat confusing, there are so many interpretations.. maybe this wasn't meant to be literal? lol

"A women should learn in quietness and in full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man"

Not really sure how you could misinterpret that... :)

Shouldn't you be sitting quietly somewhere being submissive?

You need to call gworld in here to help you with the anti-Christian message. Maybe the two of you can make headway in your efforts of converting people to your religion.

Nice try but unless you can address what I've written here, your rhetoric will remain just a feeble attempt at changing the subject.... I post this and all you have to say is gworld? How pathetic. But no thanks since after all I posted that's all you had to say it looks like I'm doing pretty ok on my own here. Thanks.

Someone can spend all day explaining simple verses within context to people. Like explaining that the customs of the time and place and going through explaining to you what submission means and how it is a good thing. I am sure you will come back with how I make my wife submit to me like a king or whatever, since for you to say what you did, your understanding of the word is like that of gworlds (which is why I mentioned him for you. shoot, he thinks that John and Luke are antisemitic and that God had the Jews offer human sacrifices.)

Usually on this forum when someone attempt to attack the Bible they use copy/paste from sites that are full of misunderstanding. So, this isn't anything new and it isn't anything anyone needs to defend.

I can go start a thread about the one eyed purple people eater and how it is destroying our planet, but should I expect anyone to really try to defend the opposite? If it isn't true, why argue with it?

So, hopefully you understand my point. Many propagated misunderstandings of the Bible are out there and already many sites that go through all of those misunderstandings. Dig it up.

If only any of that made sense... Listen let me explain what is happeneing here for you.

I just posted direct unedited quotes from the bible.. I didn't "copy/paste from sites that are full of misunderstanding". That is from the bible... I know you knew that but you couldn't figure out how to interpret the text to something else so you just called it propoganda even though it's from the bible. How ironic.

It is absolutely laughable how you kept using language to imply I had simply plucked some verses from the bible and bent them to my intepretation. Especially since you know damn well there is no other way to interpret those passages. Am I wrong? Show me.....

I could have posted those passages directly and said nothing and they would have still meant the same thing.

Women shut up and wear hats!!

Do you mean the fact that you are desperate and have no point? :D

Next you will probably come up with translation card and how it should be interpreted with customs and traditions of that time. :D

ah so you have the original English hand written (by god himself) Bible?
without any human male translation involvement what so ever, have you told the Pope? i am sure he would like a copy from you.

    Quote:
    1 Corinthians 14:33-35

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.
As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

    Quote:
A women should learn in quietness and in full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, and then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing - if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety. (1 Timothy 2:11-15)

To my knowledge this is said by the Apostles.
I accept it though that men should be heads of the churches.

We should not become feminists by giving women extra rights, but we should not oppress them either. Equal rights to all. Love your neighbor like yourself. -It doesn't say more than yourself.

Easily addressed. God never told women to "STFU"

That you would suggest such, when clearly it doesn't say such, is a reflection of your lack of character and dishonesty.

What else would you sell out so cheap?

all we have to do is look at the quote from 1 Corinthians 14...women being quite in church is "as the law says"....back then this might have been the law, but today, it is not. I think that goes to show that you have taken the text fully out of context. When people take the text out of context, any meaning can be derived.

no, I am saying that you have to look at the whole context of the verse...at the same time, things do change. Paul tells us the Christ came to fulfill the Law of Moses...so are the ten commandments no longer valid? Some theologians would say yes, some would say no. You have to look at the bigger picture, read the scripture as a whole, allowing scripture to interpret scripture.

i do not see how else you can read this
also in my neighborhood all orthodox jewish women shave their head and wear wigs also there is a seperate section for men and women in the shul and most large events
there is also no orthodox women rabbi so some of these rules seems to be shared among all abrahamic religions
as far as thing changing i don't see that as a valid point , not following it does not make it go away. if that would be the case then what is the limit ?
