When country music became very mainstream and she realized she could make big money she satrted using it to make money but carried her old bigoted ideas with her. She underestimated her audience by showing her true colors. She figured she could get away with it while out of the country but didn't have the guts to do it here. I doubt seriously anyone stuck in such a crappy period like the 70s, Vietnam, Led Zeppelin, Nixon, drugged out hippy days could understand that.
