God...real?

Well, I'm not the one to really make these kinds of assumptions. I have always been taught to worship 'God'.

But I'm not really the one to have doubts, but I'm starting to wonder, when did this all become devised? When did the story of god begin? Was it just...made up?

Is there a starting point for all Gods to begin?

Such as the Greek Gods, and Zeus being the all powerful God.

But, seriously, I don't want to be another adolescent mind, someone explain me this.

And for the record I am not atheist, I am Hindu/Buddhist.

Is God real? This question has been asked for centuries. Unfortunately, there has been no incontrovertible evidence which we can rely on to provide a definite answer.
I am personally open to the idea of God. However, religion is a different story.
Fictional or not, believing in a higher power can give one a place of comfort. In this sense, God can be said to be real.
In another sense, God, as a creator of the universe, may or may not be real. The answers provided by religions have too many flaws and I refuse to accept them. Answers provided by science, on the other hand, is a lot more credible and rational.
Keep in mind, though, that natural processes explained by science may be done under the guidance of God.

    God is not real.

You are right to have doubts about what your parents have taught you. Keep on thinking about the issue and come to your own conclusions, and let your kids decide for themselves too.

I didn't see God in my own life until I started paying attention. Worshiping God makes a lot more sense when you realize what he has done and does for you.

    What a load....

He hasn't done anything for anyone, God did not make man, man made Gods to explain scientific phenomenon that wasnt exaplinable in the centuries past, humans as a whole are well past that, so wake up, live life for the people around you, because you want them to have a good time, make the right decisions for them, nevermind some fictional higher power, if you "sin" in this life the only people that suffer are those around you.

God is only real to those who want to believe in a higher power. its all about choice, do you believe or don't you. only you can answer that question

If God is not real, then how do we explain everything around us? Yes, some of the storys of God may be more of a myth than a fact (for instance, have you ever seen how many flood stories there really are?). However, to say that there is not some sort of higher power up there is to totally ignore everything around you. BTW, shannon, God gives us free choice, so you are correct in that you can or cannot believe.

    Think about this...

Imagine nothing, absolutely nothing. Just an empty vacuum of nothing. Scientifically, all of a sudden your not going to get molecules and gasses etc. if there was absolutely nothing there in the first place.

Something had to start everything off. That something must be self created, the creator, beyond birth & death.

How do you explain it? I'd say it was God...

You're assuming thats impossible, but if you actually think about it, it makes perfect sense, afterall the universe is expanding, and if you take that fact to it's logical conclusion, the universe was at one time a singularity.

Personally, I don't see any difference between believing in God and believing in Father Christmas, it's just more socially acceptable to believe in God when you're grown up :D

But seriously, you have to make your own choice. Read up on theology some if you're unsure.
