Satan was never an Angel, he's a Jin which are a creatures made from Fire. Humans from dirt and Angels from Light. Different dimensions, different powers. Satan got closer to God by his knowledge. Humans also could achieve that with knowledge (science, faith, the truth) then Satan screwed up because he refused to pray for Adam. He refused and questioned God why should I pray for someone you made from dirt and i'm from fire? -- he didn't know that us the humans got talents and so much potential. then he realized it's too late to apologize to God and wont be accepted anyway.. then he decided to use the same weapon of arrogance to bring as much humans he could with him to hell. so far it's working good since it worked with him to screw up, second because everyone who's reading this and browsing DP is not thinking that tomorrow he might not wake up and that's maybe it's good idea to pray NOW instead of lurking! why? because that how Satan screwed up... he thought he's so smart to figure out what to do and what not to do on his own ignoring that was GOD's order and not to mess with God cos he's simply the great!
In all monotheist religions. they are basically the same, just different versions and updates just like in any operating system.

No god says to us, you sit around and I will make u a multi-millionaire In hinduism, there is a myth that says as, the life which we are going through currently is because of our past lives mistakes and good dealings, one who does more good gets to experience better life and one who does bad gets a poor life, one who does exceedingly good will not have a re-birth. I am not going to say I believe this 100% but yes, our life is in our hands, the poor , the rich that's just a luck god told us love all, but have we ever listened to it ?? We have religious fights always, when you have an extremist commanding your way of living you can hardly do anything about it you believe in god or not, the only important part of human life is - Love yourself and Love others, one who does that is a god according to me, one such fine example is Mother Terrassa If you can help some one help them, if you can't help just keep quiet but don't disturb or destroy other's life, you don't have rights to do such a shame, your conscience will not accept it, if not now at least in your later part of life. peace
