Lonestar, your not fully getting what im saying buddy. How did that dense particle that created the big bang come into existence to explode and create the beautiful orderly universe that we live in today. Did someone throw a bunch of leaves in the air to create it? Things just dont magically appear into existence.Lonestar , you understand what im getting at. Im not concentrating on any book or belief on this question. Can you at least say that is a chance god does exist, because it doesnt make any sense to believe that things could just come into existence without some intelligent hand being in the equation. This is something that most atheists wont dare to tackle because it opens their minds up to not only common sense but to faith in a higher intelligent power. Most wont even try to answer this because they are happy in their own little world. Tell me you believe that the particle that created the big bang just magically appear into existence on its own . Stox its good to know that your getting desperate enough to bring up a single microbacteria. Think about it this way. If god is an intelligence way beyond you then how could you possible understand why he would create a bacteria on an inhospitable planet? Also isnt it great that he can create a humble person like u and give them the right to question him and call him an imbecile even though the thought never crossed your mind that if someone were to create a universe as infinitely complex as this , how could someone as limited as us understand why he would create a bacteria in the first place. If your arrogant enough to think you can do it any better then please share your theory of how you would have done it. Im sure this will be very interesting.
All of humankind's knowledge and/or acceptance of what is good and/or evil finds it origin(s) in Scripture, aka: THE WORD of GOD, "The Bible"; so then, if your theory is correct, then what we deem to be good and/or evil is incorrect; it would have to be incorrect because according to Scripture, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb. 9:27)". But if death ends it all, as you maintain in your "theory", then that Scriptural quote cannot be right, nor can all those "good" and/or "evil" stuff that Scripture tells us of, huh? After all, how do you believe a book that lies about one thing, and purport to be truthful about all else? But then, most theories prove to be untrue, huh?
Where did the intelligent hand come from, did it just magically appear too? That depends on where and when you say it, if you say it around his followers for instance..
Welcome back Nehemiah Did Jesus have any hobbies? What did he do for fun when he wasn't out creating miracles, such as walking on water? Did Jesus ever have a girlfriend? What did Jesus look like, you know, like height, weight, color of hair? What is Jesus doing now?
Thanks Rebecca; JESUS hobbies (if you'd call them that) were doing THE WILL of GOD on Earth providing for us an example of how we are to be; Praying (ascending communication with GOD in Heaven), and reading and studying THE WORD of GOD (Scripture; The Torah; The Tanakh; The Old Testament, as we know it now; etc) and abiding in it (descending communication from GOD in Heaven); What HE did for [Serious] fun was to take back for us, what Adam gave away to Satan, through his disobedience; as for a girlfriend, I don't know, but I doubt it, because its not documented, and Scripture tells us that The Church is HIS Bride. BTW, the concept of "girlfriend" is foreign to Scripture, meaning no such thing; What did HE look like? Scripture doesn't really tell us, but it does state, ". . .we hid as it were our faces from him; (Isaiah 53:3)" ergo it hard to know/see what a person looks like if we're hiding our faces from them; And as for what JESUS is doing now, one of the things is that HE is seated "on the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1)".
Quite frankly Nehemiah, your god asks way too much. If there is a god it would want me to cherish my life, not sacrifice it and if it wants sacrifice then i refuse. If your god needs us to bow down to it then it's a quite pathetic entity, I will not surrender a minute of my life to any demands anyone or anything may have of me.
The complexity alone is an argument against god, not for it. If god is capable of anything then complexity isn't required. The argument that a cell is complex is an argument supporting the assertion that it evolved to exist in a challenging environment, not an argument that the environment was designed with it in mind. But iv said it before and I'll say it again, the religious simply look for excuses to continue with their infantile sky daddy myth. Their belief that the universe is designed is born out of nessesity, not rational equity followed by an informed conclusion.
Nehemia, do you have anything to bring to the table besides your fairy tales? Or do you always depend on the bible to convince yourself of a God and Jesus? As you have been told, many many times here, we don't care what the bible says. Its a book from the bronze ages full of fairy tales written to explain things that were unexplainable at the time, just like every other religion in the world. Each and every one of thousands and thousands of them. Bring something new to the table. PingPong, I'm more apt to believe that it was random occurrence than an invisible man in the sky. Sorry . If anyone could explain that question, this debate would be over world wide. Let me ask you guys a question. God created the world in 7 days right? The bible says 7 days (well 6 technically). But yet, there were dinosaurs walking this earth MILLIONS of years before any humans. So whats up with that? I know what is going to come next. "But we don't know that it is really 7 days." Well then, you're questioning the "word of God." It says 7 days, thats what it means. It doesn't mean a day is a million years.
Lonestar , as far as the last question is concerned this is where me and the right wing christians are at odds because I was always taught growing up by my ex bible study teacher that the book of genesis and revelations could not be interpreted literally and never were meant to be interpreted that way. They were written conceptually as they differ immensly from the other parts of the bible in the way they were written. Its rediculous not to believe that the earth is only 5000 years old as evidence shows us otherwise. Stox your extreme fairy tale notion that the world was created out of nothing is even more rediculous isnt it? You still cant give one decent explanatyion of how all of this energy and material became available to create the universe. How do things get created out of thin air. It seem like logic has also left the window on that beliefe. Maybe you just have FAITH in what u believe in huh
Infinity has no beginning, no end, no creator, and no destroyer. Multiverses are infinite, and we are just one of the incomprehensible infinity that is the metaverse. That's my thinking anyways. There was never a beginning, there is never an end, there is no higher power, and there is no consciousness involved. There just is.
GOD desires no more from us, nor does HE ask any more of us that you desire from your children and/or ask/demand of them. The things that GOD forbids are only things that will rob you of life, and life more abundant, kill you graveyard dead, and destroy you for all eternity. GOD is going to be GOD whether you bow now or not; and according to Scripture you can either bow now, or bow later. . .but you will bow. And one thing The Scripture teaches about Hell and Eternal damnation is that there are absolutely positively no atheists there. When you chose to be dead here and now, and then die deader, THE GOD WHO is THE GOD "of the living and not the dead" (Matthew 22:32), allows you be as dead as you were, as dead as you are, and as dead as you will be. . .for all Eternity. And "Biblical" death is not a period, but rather a conjunction. And by the way, Scripture also declares that, "obedience is better than sacrifice" (1Samuel 15:22).
Sure it is. . .provided you don't mind if you "reign" all by yourself, under yourself; see Hell is the absence of GOD and all of HIS Stuff (as you'll then perceive it); that is to say, there is no fellowship (horizontal communication, conversation, camaraderie/chumminess, etc.) in Hell; there is no union and/or unity in Hell; as far as you'll be able to see, there is no one else there but you (it'll be kinda like the Tower of Babel episode after GOD confused the languages---there will be others there but you won't be able to ever communicate with them, let alone "reign" over them. So if, to "reign" is what you want to do, you'll just have to be content (for want of a better word, since there's no 'contentment' in Hell either) watching, eternally long distant, those of us who believe(d) REIGN with JESUS CHRIST throughout and for all of Eternity.
God is omnipresent! So, we can find a god in hell also to give company for us. God is very good. So, he wont allow us to suffer alone in hell. What the hell??
You really should complete the sentence: "God is omnipresent". . .wherever and only where HE choose to be (to state that HE is omnipresent period, limits THE ONE and ONLY UNLIMITED GOD; and you should already know that). . .and because HE is not wanted as GOD by some in the here and now, HE will give them, in the hereafter, what they freely and willingly have chosen prior to leaving the here and now upon their arrival in the here after---and its FOREVER. Outside of JESUS CHRIST, when you graveyard die, you die alone; you are dead alone; you are then judged alone; you are sentenced and/or condemned alone; and you serve your sentence and/or condemnation ALONE. If you wanted no parts of GOD here and now, why would the "very good" GOD then force HIMSELF on you in your Eternity? That wouldn't be "very good" now would it?
