I had a great talk w/ a motivational speaker this weekend and he said something interesting: if you do not know where you are going where ever you go will work just as well. Point being, you need to have a destination in mind. Is it $1000/mo, $2000/mo, $100/day? whatever it is, you need to work towards something. Pick a goal and work backwards. Reverse Engineer it. Example: "I want $100/day, how do I get there?" I get there through: $50/day on ppc + clickbank $30/day on adsense $10/day from article posting $10/day from email marketing etc. And if you're only making $10/day from adsense then you know what you have to do, because you know where you're going... hope this is useful .
nice one.. $100 a day is a good amount. My goal is $4000 profit for the month of february 08. Using Clickbank, Adsense and CJ + some other smaller networks.
It's not just about setting goals, I can wish to make 1000$/day, but below is the biggest question "how do I get there?"
That's what he's talking about. You put $1,000 a day in your head and keep it there; you will start researching ways on how you can make this a reality. Keeping telling yourself "i'm going to make $1,000 a day" and in your sub-conscious mind - you'll develop ways and ideas to get to this goal. I've came up with some incredible ideas because I've set my goals so high. That philosophy works with every aspect of life as well. I can tell you exactly how to make $1000 a day, but you have to figure it out for yourself - find out what works for you.
that's useful. I can add to it.. In my retail course i've learnt about what is called SMART goals. So as well as working backwards to determine how to get there, you need to make sure it measures up against the SMART goal. S - specific, significant, stretching (The goal needs to be specific and not vague, clear to anyone reading the goal) M - measurable, meaningful, motivational (a timeline is established,Know when it has been achieved) A - agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented (the goal is not far out to the point of not being achievable,it must be attainable) R - realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-oriented (must be relevant to your overall goals, and and produce results) T - time-based, timely, tangible, trackable (not too much time is taken to complete, and not too short, just enough time to complete the project,)
I read alot about personal development and the like and i was reading a book called "How to be brilliant" by michael heppell and in it he said that the SMART system isnt that good for setting goals for long term. I would have to agree with him 100% But having a Goal system in place is better than not having any!!!!
