>> GMail now requiring mobile phone verification! <<

It appears that you need to jump some hoops now in order to create GMail accounts. I just ran into a verification page that wanted me to verify myself by entering my mobile phone number. They have a Q&A section right there giving info and offering other verification methods.

That is good, hopefully that will reduce the number of spammers using Gmail. The forum that I run, about 95% of the spammers have gmail accounts. There was also an article awhile back that the bots have broken the gmail captcha phrase. Meaning that bots by the hundreds (maybe thousands) were creating bogus gmail accounts just to sign up on forums and spam them.

Hopefully having to verify with a phone number will help stop the flow of spam.

I herd this before, But I didn't get it. Sometimes they may track IP.

I am glad for this change as well. And because it probably won't affect GMAIL for DOMAINS service ;)

    yes yes yes..
That's true its maybe because you've already created a lot of Gmail account a day so that's why your IP is in their blacklist.
You just have to provide the code sent to your phone, why worry about that.

That's a great idea. I've seen a lot of companies requiring this and it helps reduce fraud and spammers.

If so many gmails have been made from the same ip then im guessing that they now require this to reduce spam.
Nothing to worry about, people that create tons of gmail accounts can get round that no problem i would imagine. Simple ip change now and again should do it.

I have created about 10 in one day once from same ip as a one off and noticed that google was quick at hitting me with double captcha's but never got asked for phone verification.

Google do seem very quick to notice if even a hint of spamming could be on the horizon and rightly so.

Oh, I too got around 4 functioning Gmail accounts. May the verification calls for IP being sued to register tens of accounts...
