gmail - new accounts require a sms actiovation code

is this one a new thing? just encountered it for the first time.

I reckon this is going rightfully to piss off many people.

anyone else had seen it too?

you can use another computer to register a new gmail account, it works.

 

Just enter your mobile no. there , you will receive the activation code via SMS.

 

Yesterday i created my Gmail account no . 100xxx (forget the count) but no activation code for requested !
Maybe this is regional or IP issue.

 

ask your friend to register it for you. you look like a spammer in the eye of google

 

It tends to happen if you put in a new/fake name.

 

Every time I created a fake account with bogus info I had to do SMS activation.

 

do you need to use proxy?

Its because you entered wrong location

 

It doesn't happen every time, only if Google suspects you're only creating gmail accounts for spam purposes.

 

Came across this recently. I was able to use the same number twice.

zenalisha here, u r right google need a sms activation code for any new gmail a/c. this is for authentication process and i think when u will use different ip for ur different a/c then u will get out of this problem.

Old news. But it gets activated only a few times during the day. I've made account without the sms feature

 

if you create more than one account from a same computer,it will ask like that..

 

I don't know why gmail use this sms activation?
