I wish they would sort out their legal problems with Gmail and just release the damn thing.

    Hey,

Dominic gave me an invite and I have a G-mail account! Cheers Dominic!

The weird thing is this, I was given 6 invites on sign-up, gave them all out to family and friends then about an hour later I got another 6 invites which I then passed on...I then checked my account today and presto this time I have 4 invites! So, I have 2 invites left and the offer is out there, anyone who wants one send me a PM and I will gladly pass one on.

    Cheers!
    Steve

    Cheers Steve :)

Seems like they want to see how many the average gmail account holder can give out at the moment - there seems to be a flood of invites available right now hey.

I typed that URL above incorrectly and I can no longer edit the post - the correct address was http://kevinrose.typepad.com/ and he allready gave away a 1,000, with 2,000+ shortly ...

beta testing for such a large undertaking must be done carefully and can take a long time. Besides, I doubt they would announce it long before hand.

Having used Gmail I was pretty convinced it would take off like nothing else when they release it. But of late, since I seem to get more invites allocated as soon as I run out [plus I was bored] - I've tried to give out as many invites as possible to friends and family and so on.

    Here are the results:

50% of the people I invited said 'Thanks for thinking of me - but I'm happy with Hotmail / Yahoo / work email.'

25% of the people I invited joined up and were really glad to leave their old email provider and use the new 'better' one.

25% of the people I invited either: (a) owe me money and are avoiding me, (b) haven't checked their email, (c) weren't interested and didn't reply.

Of course the world revolves around me - and my experiences :p but I was wondering if they are actually going to spend money on advertising Gmail - or just try to launch it through the search engine (like they push picsa in image search).
