Once they think the product is stable enough, they'll bring it out of beta. I don't think it'll make a real difference when it does.
I guesss they are still in BETA because they cant afford too many people...... Once its out of BETA its not supposed to go down or offline.... Suppose one if one day many people signed up for Gmail.... and what if they cant handle them??? They have to give large storage to them (even though its just a number and they are not allocating 6 GB+ for each user) If that happen then Google must be able to handle all of them... So they will be out of BETA once they are in a position........
Not everyone is going to use 6GB... I've only used 1GB, 6GB is alot. What do you mean google can't afford? Is that a joke?
I mean exactly what I said.... You used only 1 GB and I used only 300 MB... But what if we all are using 3 GB or more??? They cant simply assume that everyone use only 1 GB.... Suppose suddenly most of the Hotmail users switched to Gmail....... Will they be able to handle all of them? If new users are using 1 GB or 2 GB on an average? If am right Google Gmail is powered by Google's 3,00,000 Servers.... They dont have UNLIMITED storage.. Isnt?
How can new users be using 1 or 2 gigs on average? It took me a few years to pile up all my emails to about 1 gig exclude attachments. If google can't afford the storage, why do you think the quota keeps increasing? If they are having difficulties, I am sure they would stop increasing the quota.
We can simply use 1 GB or even 2 GB of storage if we use Gmail as a back up too.... Am using less than 300 MB as I dont send personal mails much so it means I dont send attachements...... Its all texts....... If we use photos then it will need mroe storage........
May be they want to add some more capabilities to Gmail. Hey.. one thing more. Gmail have internally shared folder for inbox and spam. Anyone noted it ever?
