I got that server error message, but I could login to my account within couple of minutes.

Its too difficult to believe that guy has real story, sounds like troll to me.

(or someone hacked into his account and deleted)

    wtf?????????

it reminds me, don't rely too much on something you didn't pay for..
I pay $10 for yahoo mail, just to get rid of the stupid self promotion at the end of every message and their service really sucks related to gmail, but at least it's reliable...

I don't backup Gmail because that's why I use it.

The account in question was deleted other than losing emails or having other technical problems on Google's side, maybe the account owner broke the TOS.

It definitely is easy to get lazy about backing up data...especially when using services through well established companies like Google.

Lesson is though...if you're doing business it's up to you to make sure you're taking care of your data. It's your business.

I don't think I have anything on Gmail right now that would cause me to much down time...but, I better go look just to make sure.

Good heads up for all of us.

I would never, ever, use gmail or any online mail service as my final email repository. Anybody who does, really must take backups for themselves, especially if you can't afford to lose the data. the same will be the case for GDrive when that comes onstream.
