Gmail Hacked, What Can I DO?

Discussion in 'Google' started by just-4-teens, Feb 13, 2007.

I had my gmail account hacked/password changed and can no longer access it, i have a lot of important emails in there as well as personal one.

Ive tried resetting password but no luck in recieving password reset email, and only thing gmail site says about it is they will only get involved if the account has been inactive for 5 days or more.

    any suggestions?

Sorry to hear the bad news and I hope Google can help you. But just for kicks, how about you send the hackers an email on your hacked account? I wonder if they will reply to you!

the hacker is one step ahead, since he used my gmail account to change my godaddy password, he is using the phone number on my whois details to txt me from a free SMS site.

So has the hacker crossed into identity theft and google are refusing to help you?

I think that would send alarm bells ringing at google if they were seen to be helping people commit identity theft through refusal to help recover your account unless it is inactive for 5 days.... 5 days is plenty of time for someone to usurp your identity and basically ruin your life if they have are using your phone number, they are on the way to controlling your indentity and ruining all trust people had with you in all walks of life.

There's a difference between 'hacked' and 'guessed your easy password'.

    1. Pick stronger passwords next time
    2. Keep your computer clean.

    Ah.. Google don't care.
I tried everything to get my account back when it was hacked, Google did not help me one step of the way, hacker stole my domains and a few other accounts because all they had to do was press forgot-password and they had a new password sent straight to the GMail account, I think Google needs to seriously think some type of phone support.. I wouldn't mind waiting on hold for a while if it meant that I could have the problem solved asap! As it was Google NEVER replied to any of my e-mails, and there phone number was useless unless your some huge company interested in AdWords. I ended up solving it myself by talking to the person who had hacked the account and it all ended up being a huge misunderstanding as they had been ripped off by someone who was pretending to be me, so they wanted to get back at him

i did get an email from google, the email was helpful but i managed to get my account back another way, the hacker was not destructive but used $400 from my paypal account and redirected all my domains (changed nameservers in godaddy).

    NOTE TO ALL
choose secure passwords that contain letters, numbers and symbols.
and never use the same password for multiple sites!!

If you can access adsense account then you should be able to access it to. I changed my adsense account's password and it automatically changed my email address password

yep, money is being claimed back. Ive even spoke to the company the items were purchased from.

adsense (for me at least) has its own login system, my google accounts login only connects gmail & adwords to 1 account while adsense has its own password assigned.

Sorry but i dont think thats true because i changed my adsense password plenty of times and nothing else changed. My gmail password stayed the same. Unless thats something new, but i dont think so because many people want to keep their passwords different.

holy crap if someone got into my gmail, they could access my adwords account. One of the issues of having a single sign on for multiple services
